Looking to book a week in the sun during October half term and am thinking about perhaps Corfu. Can anybody suggest some decent accommodation over there? I prefer quieter places (not keen on large package holiday type hotels).

Open to other destination suggestions as well!

We went to Kalami in October a good few years ago. It's very quiet, but enough restaurants around to eat out. Shops didn't have much food in them though as October is end of the season.

But you're not really guaranteed sunshine in Corfu in October, we had some nice days but started to cloud over at the end of the week and rained as we got on the bus to the airport.

As said, weather can be changeable.
Gambia is well past wet season & fab at that time of year.
Just a thought.

Try southern Greek Islands Crete,Rhodes Kos. It was high 20's low 30's when we went last October. Went a bit cool in the evening.
Plenty of quiet resorts on the above islands. Lindos has plenty of rooftop tavernas and restaurants
Pefkos is also quiet but further from the beach than Lindos.
Kiotari is nice but full of all inclusive hotels.

We went to Corfu a few years ago, end of the season. It was a more rural villa-type holiday and very few restaurants and bars were open, it rained regularly and was colder at night. The accommodation was a bit tired by then too

as others have said, weathers nice at that time of the year in canaries and greece, maybe starting to just get a bit cooler if you dont mind that. so...... further south you go the warmer itd be? with that in mind have you considered cape verde? couple of hours south of the canaries and would still be hot in october, bit more expensive tho.

Did cyprus in late oct 2 years ago. We were in the pool most days. Last days of hol were nov and it had started to cool. Wouldn't go back as other than the pool we didn't enjoy it that much, food generally very poor in restaurants.

Cape Verde looks really nice but probably a bit out of budget!

Which part of Cyprus was that?
