Time to upgrade the mildew stained airbed we have for the rare occasion we have more guests than can fit in our spare room.
I was going with a bog standard high-rise built-in pump style airbed but spotted a Decathlon product which made me wonder if there is anything else out there that is better.
The Decathlon one isn't going to fit the bill as the reviews are 'mixed' and if you buy two to link up as a double you are looking at an eyewatering £340. But the principle looks good, an air filled frame and which then supports a thin mattress.
So if anyone has recommendations for something that can be packed up and manhandled into the loft but is going to keep guests happy I'm all ears, otherwise I'll just get one of the highrise airbeds 🙂

I have 2 internet ones but had a look and they don’t seem to make them now. Saw Amazon have a vango on offer for their prime day at half price and £80 which looks identical to the ones I have.
I've got an unused Aldi one, a double, never been slept on, if interested bung me a pm and a bottle of wine + postage/ delivery and it's yours

An Ikea foam mattress and some compression straps…
We have this high rise built-in pump one that we use for camping. Well, my wife uses it and is usually joined by one of our children. I've never acutally slept on it. But they all sleep well and seem happy with it. The headboard is flimsy but good at stopping pillows disappearing off the end. We also have the fitted sheet that goes with it - 3 sides are fitted and then a big elastic strap to go around the headboard.
Exped Mega Mat 10 Duo - not cheap as your looking at c £250 (more for the LW+ version - long & wide), but by far the most comfortable mat i've slept on and not far off bed comfy
We've got an Intex double - one of those high-rise ones with a built in pump.
It has survived for several years and is pretty comfortable. Only takes a couple of minutes, if that, to fully inflate.
Alpkit Dozer / Double Dozer is a fantastic bit of kit but pricey. Also very low to the ground so not ideal for older / less flexible relatives.
Honestly, I would just go with a bog-standard Decathlon or Intex / Bestway double and a separate electric pump. The key to keeping them going for a few years is not to over-inflate (kills the seams) and make sure there's nothing on the floor below them to snag and puncture the rubber.
