We want some oak furniture for the bedroom, preferably cream/ivory painted with Oak tops. Where can the collective recommend?

Oak Furnitureland used to be very good - especially when they were just an Ebay store. They are still pretty good but not quite so much the big bargains anymore.

I had a absolute ******* nightmare with Oak Furniture Land.

They delivered broken shelves and sent me another set that were, you guessed it, broken.

Personally I would get a furniture maker to make you something bespoke.

That's just what I'd do...

There used to be quite a few independent shops reselling exactly the same stuff as OakFL. Have a little google locally and see what turns up.

We bought our dining table & chairs from an independent in Kent where MrsDubs folks used to live. Little warehouse out the back of the street front shop, was a similar price to OakFL for similar product.

I am pretty convinced it all comes out of the same container ship. Just google what you are after and check the website reviews.

We have a painted pine wardrobe, bought from a very reputable local firm. 5 years on and all the knots in the wood are showing through.

especially when they were just an Ebay store

We bought loads of stuff from them when they started on eBay and got some real bargains. The owner was / is really nice and went out of his way to help. Incredible how he has grown the business now!

We bought a bedroom suite from The Painted Furniture Company last year and are very pleased with it.

Yeah we did too - and fortunately the range we really liked back then is still available so we have added to what we had now we have a bigger room to put it all in.

And as it is all pre-built, The boxes come in useful too 🙂

Cotswold stuff is nice, comes in their match for a lot of Farrow & Ball colours, which Mrs Georgesdad appreciates as it blends in nicely. I also appreciate it because it saves me painting the bloody stuff.

These people are still an eBay store, and I've been very happy with what I've bought from them so far. At <roughly> a third less of the cost from the retail outlets for similar.

Obvs I'd like Kayak to make my furniture, but unless he can knock up a large 6 drawer chest of drawers for £280 with some fancy curve and whatnot, I have to go commercial 🙂

These guys are pretty good despite the dreadful name. I got some dining chairs from them as the were the only people I found who could do me 2 carver chairs in the same style without buying a table as well.

Willis and Gambier are closing down next month
They have an online outlet with substantial reductions
Our bedroom furniture came from them and it’s nice
