I've seen it reported that O2 networks are down for data but ok for phone calls, well not in the sunny lands of Mid-Cheshire they're not!!

Yep, ****ed in the not so sunny south...
Not just me then (Liverpool)
No data for me (Scottish Borders)
It’s been down intermittently here in Sheffield this morning
Down on the south coast since I woke up this morning.
Data down in the Scottish Highlands too
No data in Glasgow area for me. No calls either as far as work is concerned! Skive day.
i wish something would go down on me..
Not working in Chippenham either according to our office down there.
It's lashing it down too, so I can't even go out on my bike 🙁
Well my 02 is ticketyboo in Fife, lets hope it stays that way
i wish something would go down on me..
Then you could go 'Oh!' too!
i wish something would go down on me..
The sun goes down on us all.
Data and calls down on my phone in Cheshire.
Good to know! I installed an android update last night and now it won't connect to the network. Spent a while trying to solve, was just shifting a load of photos in preparation for a factory reset.
Happy to let it go and wait for the network now, ta!

The sun goes down on us all.
aww, don't let it
Yep its massively effecting Giffgaff around Birmingham too, no internet so had to sign onto the works dreaded network!! At first I assumed I'd run out of my date but nope still hanging in there!
Down in Shrewsbury too.
Working in Cheshire now
Still not working in Rotherham.
You didn't need mobiles back in 1973 before we joined the EEC, get a bit of that blitz spirit and go dig for victory in your allotments. Or something like that.
Still not working in Rotherham.
Nothing works in Rotherham.
Not just me then (Liverpool)
I'm in Liverpool and it's been working fine all morning.
Days like this make me proud to be a vodafone stooge!
Some global software related issue apparently, affecting other providers in other countries
Ooh - was no data all day. Then a few minutes of 4G. Now no data or voice. Just the wrong day to leave my Vodafone ipad at home 🙁
Just been trying to call a chap in London - he's on O2 - just voicemail - all iMessages just going as Text Messages for now.
Worst possible day for this to happen to me.... .Supposed to be exchanging contracts on my house sale today. Couldn't get on my e-mails due to no 4G all morning which was stressfull.
Eventually I get onto works wifi (usually reserved for the Elite). Then I receive a facebook message from my buyer but works wifi blocks facebook and now I can't get on it to read it or reply.
BOOOOOO
I'm on GiffGaff and have had no data all day. Currently have nothing at, no texts, calls, nothing! I'm in Leicester for reference.
Three here and for the first time ever, I have a functional network and signal and no one else does!
My shit choice in provider finally paid off!
O2 are experiencing global outages predominantly affecting 2G, 3G and 4G data frequencies.
It is now reported that this is sporadically affecting voice calls and SMS. O2s technical teams are working on resolving the issue.
I don't think this is regional. I have two O2 phones here, one is showing no service and the other is fine. Unfortunately the one with no service is my work phone.
Nothing here in Carmarthen all day too
I've no phone signal at all either. Currently manoeuvring between coffee shops and train wifi to send contract documents to customers.
Do they do Tesco as well? Can't text, but can phone.
Yup, Tesco are in the 02 network.
Mines been intermittent all day.
My subbie that's supposed to be doing a bit of latexing for me in London is rooting around in his van to find an A-Z 😆

You know, I totally thought that meant something else for a moment.
Moved from EE to O2 last week, annoying. Down all day in West Mids and Shropshire for me
at this rate I shall be forced to use the shitty car sat nav for my trip to brum tomorrow #firstworldproblems

Yeah, I wondered why he needed a van to typeset a document too.
(I suspect a few people on here might even get that 😉 )
I've had zero data all day in a workshop in the West Midlands.
At lunchtime I had to look at a book ffs!
Has anything happened on the internet today? Any new lolcat videos or owt?
lol lolcat. Is it year 2000? It appears we have 3G now in North Staffs.

Pray for kayak
Back working for the time being in south west Lancashire, all be it very slow.
Apparently an out of date certification issue within equipment supplied by Ericsson, affected SoftBank in Japan, possibly other networks in the US.
Also affected TfL bus route markers in London, taxis, all sorts of payment issues, both for customers and businesses whose systems communicate via O2.
It cause us some problems at work, the tablets we use to do checks and appraisal on the cars we have, and to change internal storage locations on site mostly use Wi-fi, it’s horribly flaky, will only work in some locations, etc, so we have several 4G ones. Which meant having to use the shonky bloody Wi-fi all day.
Doesn’t help that they’re Samsung Tablet A devices, and they’re crap, useless software, and the bloody things don’t even have a flash for the camera, really handy when having to photograph a car that’s just arrived on site when it’s dark. The Wi-fi issues are likely down to the tablets as well.
I had to laugh when I read it was an expired SSL cert, somebody's going to be in trouble. They have my sympathy though, I used to be responsible for renewing certs across quite a few clients myself and it's a PITA

From what I read it was some Ericsson network equipment rather than O2 themselves that had the fault:

Funny reading the O2 twitter feed (on WiFi) - all the entitled-ones demanding compensation, as well as claiming that their lives have been endangered, businesses ruined. The only person with less clue about Plan B must be Theresa May.
