The selling / landscaping kind of expert rather than hitting with geology hammer type?
We have some stone laid to the front of the house and would like to match it. Its a sandstone of some type but our landscaper seeems unclear (yeah, bit worrying...). Anyway, I can email some pics of it dry and wet - the colour change is significant, if that would help ID it?
I'm useless with posting pics...
Any help appreciated.
As in pavers? Most likely Indian if recent but try and post a pic and there's plenty on here who can help.

The dry (and dirty) colour
Yep, Indian. Matching colour will be tricky as all natural stone has big variances.
Are there variationsin the surface 'smoothness' of Indian? The Indian stuff we looked at at the yard was much rougher than ours. We have quite a smooth finish, which in turn causes issues when dirty and wet as the postie falls over...
Oh, and any idea what the coping stones are?
Coping stones are what go on top of a garden wall to finish it off nicely.
ok, the edging stones, border stones or other name to describe the smaller darker ones?
Thought you was asking the question, didn't mean to come across all pedantic 🙂
Darker ones look like a granite from the wet pic..
I'd say they were just a standard paver as in concrete, I'm not 100 sure that's Indian sandstone either, could well be concrete. Very tight joints for Indian as well.
Not concrete mate! Not sure if this close up helps. I've jet washed since the photo so may post again tomorrow with the cleaner versions!

I'm fairly sure its a sawn imported sandstone. Have a look at Pavestone Regal. Probably not a bad match.
A general rule with natural materials is that you never try to match anything, as 99% of the time you will fail. Better to go with a contrast.
(If they are in fact a natural material of course).
Thanks daddyzord - honed sandstone, you're correct. Following that Pavestone clue, I've found a few places that have simialr stuff. Cheers
