The cost of living! Oiye vey!
I haven't bought a new bike since 2001, a new house since 1997 and any food since last week.
What is everyone harping on about?
Bikes = always good deals to be had if you look around / are patient
Food = yes, way more expensive than even 10 years ago, but I think most of that hike happening 3-4 years ago
Houses = hugely over-inflated, especially down here in the south east
I look at what you can pick up a half decent hard tail for nowadays and think its surprisingly cheap. Food isn't really expensive, is it? As a percentage of your income? Its just that we had a brief period when it was cheaper
House prices? Meh! Its a london/ South East thing problem innit?, so I couldn't care less. Does seem utterly and completely insane that government policy (Help to Buy, recent pension announcement for example) all seem to be specifically tailored to cause an enormous housing bubble, which will inevitably burst and instigate the next crash and recession. Monumental folly IMHO
