Struggling on this one, but surely they exist?

Basically we want to get an air b&b in a resort, rather than go to a ski company. Only trouble is missing out on their child care for our 1 year old. We could really do with an independent creche/nursery for our little one for the mornings, but I can't seem to find anything like it.

Does anyone have any experience?

I've used one in a nielson holiday before, might be worth sending whichever hotel they use (in your resort) to see if they'll take a kid who's not staying there?

yes they do exist, but not necessarily everywhere. Larger resorts or familty oriented resorts are more likely to have them. Maybe worh asking on Snowheads, especially if you have a specific resorts in mind. Bear in mind though that air B&B plus childcare might be a significant chunk of the price of a specialist tour op

Yes they do. We go to Hopfgarten in Austria and there is one in the lift building.

Buuuut. Its the kids holiday as well. Sticking them into a random place with people they don't know who will largely be speaking a different set of noises could be quite distressing for the child. We were never happy with this approach and instead did either alternate days or morning/afternoon with the child/on the slopes. Depending where you go its only a few years till they can be on skis themselves. Where we are going this year they can do mornings sking from 3!

Add in the bloke in the big foam outfit raving in to up-tempo Dutch kids TV theme tunes every couple of hours. Traumatic.

Years ago (ha, probably 13 years ago going by the age of my child!), we went to Norway and stayed in a hotel. The resort had a child daycare place which we booked the kid into.
Have you tried a google search "<resort name> creche" or "<resort name> childcare"?
Found this for the Norway resort by doing that:

Childcare in Geilo, Norway
Geilo day and evening care plus snow ski schools and babysitting.

The Troll Club (Trollklubben) is a ski and non-ski kindergarten is located at the Geildiaa area. Here children under 3 can take part in indoor and outdoor activities with English speaking staff specifically trained in childcare. A babysitting service is also offered and anyone requiring this should book in advance at the centre. The childrens' ski school at Geilo, which has received much acclaim over the years, teach children from four years and upwards

Not what you asked for but just incase you weren't aware of it ...

A friend of mine has been going on package deal ski hols for a few years with a company called Esprit (or something like that) and highly recommends them.

You get child care included, either nursery or ski school and play school type thing that looks after the kids during the day so the adults can ski and do their own thing and the children have fun playing with other people of similar age, Win / win situation as far as he is concerned.

Just Googled the two resorts I recall having a reputation as 'family friendly'. Both have childcare for 6months up:

In my experience in France, yes, normally associated with the ESF (ski school).

Some of the day care I have seen abroad has been atrocious. A place in Spain basically had the kids shut in a sticky room and left to cry it out.

No way would I use one for a baby. Once the kids are old enough to give an opinion on whether they enjoy it or not would be a different matter.
