It would have been like nuking France or Belgium during the war because there were a few Germans in those countries - ineffective against a widely distributed foe and hugely costly in innocent lives.

It seems like a bad idea, bearing in mind the ISIS people that were involved in the Paris shootings were living in France, Belgium, Germany etc. The Belgians and Germans might get a bit upset if you nuke their cities…

There was a concern that Putin might resort to small nukes following the downing of the passenger plane from Egypt. I would say that was more credible than the French doing so. But it would be like blowing your neighbours house up to get rid of rats while they are still inside.

If you happen to find yourself on any of the rabid right wing FB pages you'll see an absolute shit ton of people proposing nuking ISIS. The hate is really quite depressing. Well I suppose there are nukes in the closest outside country, though given it doesn't have independent control of them, at best it might get a say rather than taking offence afterwards - it certainly won't be targetting us. Otherwise I can only think of one country in the region with nukes, and I kind of suspect they would welcome bombing Daesh (they certainly won't be targetting us either).
