Yeah, beat that STW!

No warhead luckily but still, pretty epic garage porn.

What is it with the Americans and their right to bear arms?

A Bellevue resident told State News on Friday that he'd been given a Geiger counter but didn't understand why. And then it clicked

It's unguided, so a rocket rather than a missile.

Air-to-air nuclear, never knew such a thing existed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIR-2_Genie

It's a lump of metal, an unguided rocket that was used as a delivery system for the warheads, and this one doesn't even have the propellant, it's inert, pretty much a non-story, i'd be worried if it was a rocket found with 70 year old propellant in it.

Seen loads of stuff as gate guardians or displays, bloodhound seems to be used a bit, sure i've seen one in someones garden around Somerset as well, same with other missile systems, they go out of service and inert models are used or sold off, same as old aircraft.

A nuclear missile without the nuclear bit or the bit that makes it fly. So... man has metal tube in garage? Scary stuff.

I know they have the right to Bear arms but it that hit one, all that would be left would be some Grizzly limbs.

I think that your logic is off on that one. Unguided is a missile, guided would be a hittile 🙂

Come on lads, please. Not having a pop here but...

I didn't post it as a hard hitting piece of journalism. I don't think some more tongue in cheek, lighter threads do STW any harm to be honest. 😉

These are worrying times we live in, let's be allowed to bring up and have a laugh at the ludicrous without having to disect it all, please?

@poopscoop, wasn't having a go at you putting this on here, was more having a go at the press talking as they even posted the police comments about how it was a pointless story in the story!

Apologies mate, I'm just feeling grumpy today and read far too much into an innocent post. Sorry for being a grumpy sod.

As above - my disdain was aimed squarely at whoever thought this was worthy of being published as news.

BAE marketing managed to beat you to that joke by about 55 years 😉 https://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/research/collections/british-aerospace-rapier/

Hitile is just a marketing word, two main fuzes are proximity and impact, both are guided in the missile world, it's just the design of the effect that differs, prox warheads are to cover an area to increase potential damage to target, impact is there to cause kinetic energy damage and a smaller warhead to cause internal damage usually in the missile role.

I stole it from an RAF tech about 40 years ago, you never know when a dad joke will come in handy 🤣

I'm just impressed they managed to find it! Even if I had such a thing i'm not sure I'd know where i'd left it.

Seen loads of stuff as gate guardians or displays,

This is my favourite one: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/dec/03/welsh-couple-bereft-after-bomb-squad-detonate-ornamental-garden-missile

"The couple, from Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, had thought it was a “dummy” bomb with no charge. Sian Edwards said she used to bang her trowel on the bomb to remove earth after gardening."

All rockets are missiles, so are bullets and hand grenades.
