Signed up to Now tv as I got a good deal on Sky Sports but slightly miffed to discover the app isn’t on Amazon Firesticks because of bl**dy rights restrictions
Quite a few how-to guides on how to download/side load it. I’ve downloaded the APK file but it just won’t work- I keep getting a message saying ‘the app isn’t compatible with this tv’
Any suggestions?
Buy a now tv stick from amazon.
Yeah it’s a shitter. One of the first hurdles we faced when we decided to go steaming only was the device / platform provider pissing contest.

£25- no thanks.

Seems to be the new first world problem!
Or buy a Roku stick. It isn't owned by a streaming service, so doesn't try to restrict you.
The Now TV stick is made by Roku anyway, but with custom software to sell Now TV.
Roku is the way forward. Pretty much everything available on there

Same price as a roku, normally comes with a couple of months vouchers so almost free...
25 quid doesn't seem unreasonable for the Now TV stick?
£12.50 on ebay for a used one.
Are NowTV sticks not still basically free once you take into account the vouchers they come with?

Pretty much, I upgraded ours when I wall mounted the TV in the bedroom. It was £25 but came with a months Entertainment (£8) a months cinema pass (£12) and a Sky Sports Day Pass which I'm saving for the first F1 race of the year.
Of course you could argue you wouldn't buy those anyway so it's not 'free' and it's a pain having 2 devices, but still.
For me Amazon Prime was the biggest ball ache for devices and offered the worst service, so I ditched it, in fact I used to get Prime free via work and I still never used it.

Yep! Probably will only subscribe to sports for a few months so spending another £25 just to allow me to watch footy upstairs occasionally is a bit much, plus the TV doesn’t have a spare HDMI slot so it’ll mean swapping dongles.
I agree Prime is the worst tv service in that there’s the least stuff that interests me but we like the free & quick Amazon deliveries so class the tv service as a value-added
