I always thought this was a bit odd. If you have heart problems, circulatory problems or are at risk of stroke/TIA then an aspirin a day isn't a bad idea. If you don't. then you wont benefit.

I thought the advice for quite a few years now had been not to take them unless you are in a high risk group, potential side effects have been known about, so the benefits of taking them needs to outweigh the risk of taking them.
