After sending healing vibes to mikey-simmo's cat last week the strain mustv'e been too much for our Pepsi, she came in this morning after a night out when the Mrs came in from work, followed her upstairs, laid down in the sunlight coming through the window, coughed a couple of times & that was it, eyes wide open & dead as a dead thing. She was only 14 & seemed fit healthy, no ailments at all.
Bugger, she was a lovely cat, dead pally & didn't even catch birds. She'll be missed.

Terrible news. You have my condolences. One of mine is 15 but I hope she's got a few years in her yet. I reckon she sleeps 23 hours a day now.

Sorry to hear. At least you know she had a good innings, a happy, cherished life and passed away painlessly and not alone.

Was it a torty?

My torty lasted just over 20yrs and we even, got a letter from the lady in waiting for her majesty saying condolences.
As the equivalent in human years was above 100.

sad but true.

Yes quite better than having a cat shot then driven over by some low life druggy who passed through our village a few years back.

Sorry to hear about Pepsi, it must have been a terrible shock for you, but I hope that you take some comfort from the fact that it was an easy passing for her.

Must have been some night out, did she know Kate Moss at all?

Seriously though, pretty upsetting when it happens, but so much nicer than having to take her and have her put down.

Awwwww sorry to hear that. What a lovely way to go though, and not laid on a vets table. Hope I can be that lucky with my Zoe when the time comes.

That's really sad, and I feel pretty upset just reading about it, but it really couldn't be a better way for her to go, warm and loved and cared for.
There are so many horrible ways for a pet cat to die, like deliberately being poisoned with antifreeze, that Pepsi really had a perfect ending. 😥

😥 Sorry to hear it, a cat or dog really is a family member and it leaves such a hole.

Sorry to hear this... I'm not looking forward to the later years of our three...

As others said, a lot less emotionally charged than the difficult decision involving the vet...

The Mrs can't stop bubbling & It's setting me off, my stepson's pretty upset too cos it was 'his cat' since he picked her from a bunch when he was 12. (his real dad wouldn't allow animals in the house cos he didn't like them)
Anyway here she is doing what she did best, & thanks for all the condolences.

The Mrs can't stop bubbling & It's setting me off,

My childhood kitty lived to be 18, she died circa 2002 I think. I still can't talk about it without getting a bit sniffly.

Sorry for your loss. At least she didn't suffer and wasn't alone which should be some comfort.

We lost ours to old age in January. We've only just felt able to get another and we now have Monty who is a 6 year old from the local rescue center. Although he's ace we still miss our previous cat.

Oh my god that's awfull I'm so sorry. I don't know what to say. To think it's just starting for you now as it did almost a week ago for us is very very sad. Console yourself with the knowledge you gave her a very good cat life which she enjoyed. Again, thanks for your kind words I wish you all the best.

Sorry to hear that, upsetting news.

I had the awful situation of watching my healthy 10 y-o tom starve himself to death.
We moved house and he just wouldn't accept this and walked the ten minutes back to the old house and sat on the garage roof, refusing to eat from both me and the new house owner.

I'd get him down from the roof, take him home and try to feed him whilst keeping him indoors for as long as possible but he wailed to be out.
Ten minutes later I'd get a phone call saying he was back on the roof ...
That's where he died.

14s not a bad age and to go that quickly was a bonus for her . Still doesn't make it any easier for you or your family . At least you've got 14 years of happy memories to reflect on .

We waited 2 weeks before we got amber after molly went. Zoe seemed a bit unsure when we came back from the vets and she wasn't with us. Two cats is a nice number. Even though they might not get on. It's nice to know they have company when we are at work all day.
