I hope but let this be a warning

I had a set of carbon wheels on demo from a shop who asked for security payment of nigh on a grand, paid by PayPal for the demo, returned the wheels and the shop advised me they had sent the refund.

I then find out almost 2 weeks later that the refund has bounced without any notice from the shop or from PayPal!

Shop say they will refund again today and don't know what has gone wrong, I know I'll get the money back from PayPal eventually but Not a Happy bunny.

Contact PayPal or look at your account?  Or are you saying there are no messages etc on your account?

Sometimes PayPal flag such things, especially higher amounts pinging backwards and forwards.  I had it when I accidentally paid a wrong amount to a friend so they refunded it back and PayPal flagged it as money laundering?!

But yeah you should have at least had a notification.

I looked at the account and it said the refund was complete, there were no messages there or in email.

Makes me even redder!

How were you informed that the payment bounced, if there were no messages? If it's just that the money isn't there, it's possible that Paypal have temporarily withheld it (link). If they haven't realised it's a refund, they may be thinking it's a big amount for a new seller.

When It hadn't appeared in my account well after it should have, I phoned the bank, then PayPal, PayPal told me it had bounced. They were really unprofessional tbh.

I rarely leave money in Paypal, how come you didn't withdraw it as soon as it came back? edit, crossed post...

Like you say you know you are going to get your money back, so how do you think you might be scammed?

most likely as above, its triggered some anti fraud/money laundering actions at paypal

I know I won't be scammed and the shop have been great and really apologetic.

On reflection I was just being either stroppy, a slapped ass or an attention whore or more likely all of the above.

PP are extremely unprofessional in times of need and are I would say much of a muchness alongside banks ime.

I had an issue where I bank transferred my gf to then send on to my PP but PP questioned both accounts of dodging fees and froze both our accounts and withheld the monies for what seemed an age. Took a lot of phone calls and deep breaths whilst discussing matter with them.

I strongly believe that PP are not only too greedy and big for their own boots but that  it hopefully will come crashing down as people realise and boycott them.

It sounds like it’s a PP mistake and that it will hopefully be rectified asap for you.
