After just over a year of living out of a van, I'm still impressed by the views and vistas this life grants me....
Currently parked up on the border of Piedmont and Liguria, not far from Saint Gree bike park (it's good) over looking the Ligurian Alps, Barolo wine country with Monviso in the distance.

Just thought I'd share.
Stunning!
That looks truly rubbish. Hope life improves for you soon.
Went kayaking in the Piedmont area quite a few years ago now.
Just utterly stunning. I mean, offensively so...
Piedmont is proper crazy.... The valley /Turin is at ~400m.... The hills to west rise almost continuously to over 3000m.... 3841m in the case of Monviso.
The alps rise so quickly. Massive change to what I'm used to in the Bavarian alps.
Oh, if you haven't yet, take a drive along the Strada dell'Assietta via the Colle della Finestre... Quite an adventure, particularly in an oversized Ducato.
Not envious at all, oh no, not me 😀
Looks great.
does Italy have aires like France? or are you staying on sites or just parking up?
Yes, Italy has aires. Not quite so many as in France or as well equipped with regards to services.
However, I only tend to use them if we need to fill our water tanks or if the aire is near a town we want to visit. I don't need electrical hook up. Don't have a chemical toilet that needs emptying/cleaning.
Generally we park up somewhere out in the sticks away from civilisation. If we've been shopping and filled our water tanks then we can be parked up for 7-10 days off grid, even longer if there's a water source nearby.
Do you have a diesel heater?
Do you have a compost toilet? Having just come back from 3 weeks in the Bavarian Alps and Tirol, I'm always disgusted and amazed at the amount of debris right next to the path from people going to the toilet.
Yup, compost/dry toilet. Essentially poo in a bin lined bucket. I built a fan into the toilet so it sucks the shitty air out of the van.
Yup... It's crazy the amount of toilet paper discarded in some spots. However, in my experience is mostly day trippers or small van/car campers who don't have the space for a toilet. Climbing spots seem to be the worst for it.
Don't think Campervan status should be given to any vehicle without a toilet on board.
It's not just car parks and crags, it seems to be all the footpaths too. It's really annoying
Oh and yeah.... Two heaters.
Usual Webasto thingy plus the stove.
Don't have any gas on board. The stove runs off diesel (Wallas Duo XC) and doubles up as a heater, too.
Well insulated with 32mm armaflex.
Pretty wonderful scenery!
Some friends run a self catering villa there, converted themselves from an old farm house years ago.
Always amazed by his photos. He seems to have a good eye for composition, but certainly he's not short of amazing views to point himself at!

Bloody amazing! That’s a proper itinerant lifestyle, well done. 😁
