...not sure how to break this, but the Siabod Cafe is closing in January.
Gutted.
The perfect caff, in the perfect place, offering genuinely wonderful food (the scones. OH MY GOD, THE SCONES) at very reasonable prices.
The delightful staff (although the habit of some of the ladies changing into national costume by the side of the trail has nearly finished off a couple of our older friends. Videos on request) and the amazing fundraising efforts are inspiring.
I remember the place when it was just a crappy petrol station between Capel and Ogwen.
The current crew have fed us, inspired us, cheered us up, made our grandkids laugh and generally been a hugely positive influence on the area. Such a shame that they can't come to an agreement with their current landlords, but as we know, some people know the cost of everything and the value of nowt.
The good news:
I am reliably informed that they have a couple of options regarding fresh premises. Even better, all their local suppliers are 100% behind them.
Honestly, this place is exceptional.
If you can get there and support them before they close please do so.
If not, find them at their new premises and support them there.
Ta
Pete.
Thread title had me braced for some disaster involving mountain rescue
Yeah, I assumed the entire country had died. That'd be hard to take, so soon after Joe Strummer
Luckily not Joe Cocker though.Â
Thanks to an intervention by Bobby Charlton, there is some hope
Joe Strummer's DEAD!?
I'll never go into a supermarket again
Get lost!
