Morning all.
I'm going to be heading along the A55 around lunchtime on Saturday and wondered whether anyone can recommend anywhere decent for a lunch stop? I'd had it in my head that I'd try and get to Caernarfon and find a cafe somewhere near the castle but anywhere decent in Conwy etc?
Cheers
Dave
Define decent? Conwy has loads on places to eat/drink , there is a great greasy spoon overlooking the sea at penmanwaer (sp) -llanfairfechan has a cafe next to the beach, also there is Bryn williams place at colwyn bay or the Mulberry at Conwy marina- hope that helps
detour down the a494 and call in @ Rhug farm estate drive thru, then the scenic route to Caernarfon via a5 & a4086
I'd actually thought about that place Klunk - we're heading out to Aberdaron so toyed with the idea of the scenic route via the mountains and through Porthmadog, Pwhelli and Abersoch and the farm shop thing is somewhere I've driven past loads on the way to CyB.
Second vote for Rhug, lovely. If you go up that way along the A5 then there’s Conwy Falls Cafe and all that Betws has to offer.
Ive tried Rhug 3 times for a bison burger and they've never had any in stock

Good call.
If you're passing through Llanberis you owe it to yourself to try The Caban at Brynrefail
or Lodge Dinorwic just up the road near the quarry.

Our favourite places to eat round there.
The Siabod Cafe on the A5 between Betwys and Capel Curig is top notch as well.
Enochs chippy at Llandudno Junction is awesome if that’s your thing.

If you are going the scenic route (from Chester, A5104 to A5) and want something earlier...
On the A5104 at Treuddyn, Swan's Farm Shop has very good pies and pasties you could pick up for a picnic (stop at Llyn Celyn for example). Also my partner says they do good chilli sausages (or they used to a few years ago).
Probably no use because of timings, but The Raven in Llanarmon-yn-Ial (between A5104 and A494) is a community run pub with good food.
Also good, reliable pub food at the Brunning and Price pubs - on that route that includes Glasfryn Mold; Dinorben Arms Bodfari; or Penybryn Colwyn Bay.
Rhug is always extremely busy around lunchtime. It always has been but with the developments over the last 10+yrs it's just bigger and busier in every way.
It might be quicker/better/less stressy to go somewhere less popular
Pack sandwiches and a flask.
Rhug bison burger is seriously disappointing... boggo white bap no trimmings and an ok burger but nothing special.... you won't go wrong with the plough at St asaph, literally 30 seconds from A55 ... eat there loads and am never disappointed
