Travelling to London on Saturday and the following Friday for a single day trip. Driving down the M1 and hoping to park up somewhere close to the end of that and near a tube station.

Any suggestions please? Had a quick search elsewhere and Kenton seems a good shout but car park likely to be full when I go next Friday mid morning.

Years ago I used to park near Edgeware but was before the days of permit parking.

East Finchley.

Just off the A1, large car park (never struggled to get a space) and reasonably cheap.

Forget East Finchley, coming across north circ always time consuming
Come off at Potters Bar M25 10 mins to Southgate, park on my road walk to tube 5 mins, straight into town 20mins on picadilly line .
Northern line is also sh 1 t

Cockfosters station is 2 away from Southgate

unfitgeezer, not sure where you are in southgate but I'd always thought all the stuff near the station was restricted parking (I'm not disputing you, just surprised)

I'm a 3 miles away... northern line FTW! (although I cycle into London)

Most stations have parking so if you're there at a reasonable time you should be OK - high barnet, totteridge and whetstone, stanmore, cockfosters, oakwood. All close to the M25 or M1 and quick to access

My road is unrestricted, one of the many few - we fought hard against council and won (for the time being), on a fast walk its 4 mins to station....

That's impressive, guessing it hasn't filled up with cars for tube commuters. Our road had parking restrictions introduced about 18 months ago as we're close to the station and the parking was shocking, it's made a massive difference

East Finchley +1.You don't have to touch the north circular if you turn left off the a1 onto Hendon lane , up the hill and right onto east end lane.(crossing the Finchley Road) 😉
There are non restricted roads 10 min walk away from tube ...look for 143 bus to the tube.

Bushey. Park in the car park which will be empty on a Saturday (or for free in the side streets around) and then sit on a comfy overground train 18 minutes to Euston. Just off the M1 too

Loving the North London massif !

Where from ?

Are you original North Londoners ??
I grew up in Woodside Park, moved not far to whetstone in my 20s bought a flat and been in Southgate the last 11years or so since.

Apart from /education/traveling for a year I’ve not moved far !

Ikea has a big multi storey. It’s a short walk past Tesco, over the A406 to Neasden tube station. Be careful on the weekend though, I don’t know if they lock it when the store closes. I alway pop in though, to stock up on Daim bars.

I'm in Whetstone, born in Barnet, was in north Finchley before this. I know Southgate pretty well, have family there. Senor J is down the road in East Finchley

Guessing your local rides involve Trent Park too
