Bluster from both sides. There won't be a war yet. The novel I'm writing has one for about 15-20 years time.

The US would win eventually. But it would be an expensive victory and ruinous to Korea.

This made me laugh actually- 6 seconds in and he can hardly hold up a pair of binoculars 😆

Also disturbing on so many levels as i can imagine out of shot the scene being lined with gunmen making sure everyone is acting correctly.

The Chinese will deal with N. Korea if there are any issues, not in their interest to have an unstable neighbour.
They're considerably more scary than the US.

And don't the Chinese own large chunks of shares in US industry, and a few large loans. Would be bad for anyone getting in the way and upsetting Chinas long game plans.

Why? I haven't seen China invading other nations and killing millions of people in it's insatiable thirst for oil and power recently, have you?

The sooner China, India and Russia get together to halt the US' belligerent imperialism, the better.

coming soon to cinemas near you.

"Cold War II" to be followed by the sequel "World War III, the end of the world"

I hear the cast of the expendables are being primed for filming.

You said exactly that a couple of hours ago on another thread. And I'm not really sure what you're laughing at there. He seems perfectly capable of holding up a pair of binoculars actually.

The sooner China, India and Russia get together to halt the US' belligerent imperialism, the better.

So, the sooner countries behave like belligerent imperialists the better?

I haven't seen any of those countries behaving like the USA has done over the last 20 years or so.

You're always going to have superpowers. Better that there are several, than one dominant power. Because they can then keep each other in check. As is starting to happen anyway; the USA realises it's days of 'empire' are coming to an end, much like the UK has. Time for a New World Order; see if the next lot can do any better...

Maybe look at history books then. Only India could be argued not to have an imperial past. Russia before and during the Soviet Union was an imperialist power and China annexed a smaller neighbour in the 50s.

So okay, I'll give you India but I wouldn't trust China and Russia any more than the US

Not sure why but I was under the impression North Korea was bigger than it is but it's not even the size of England. Bit David and Goliath if it intends to take on the US

After watching that youtube thing, I can't really understand the appeal of being a dictator. It must get to be a right old PITA to have hoards of people worshiping you like a god wherever you go. When you know, and they know, its only because they'll get tortured if they don't!

I mean... there's no sneaking down to your local for a quick pint with the papers is there? And that in itself would make life intolerable

And the idea of having massive statues, paintings and likenesses of yourself on every corner? I can't think of anything worse, for obvious reasons. And Kim Jong Un is no more of a looker than I am!

It's a bit like the kid who thinks he's tough but mostly bullies kids 4-5 years younger at school. Basically he makes statements about being tough but the minute there is a chance that people the same age might fill him in, he makes a vague threat under his breath and wanders off muttering.

But have you thought of the perks? All those women who will happily (?) hop into bed with you and who hope to bear your brood of dictator children?

I have. I was talking about the last 20 years:

I haven't seen any of those countries behaving like the USA has done over the last 20 years or so

I wouldn't trust China and Russia any more than the US

Nor would I. It's just that with several superpowers, not one nation dominates. Which I think is better than one single dominant nation and ideology. When it comes to megalomaniac nutjobs, the USA is as bad if not worse than any other nation.

This was once the world's most powerful man:

Yeah, that pretty much sums up the USA's foreign policy.

Imagine if you continually had portraits of yourself commissioned so that your loyal subjects could continue to worship you?

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=queen+painting&aq=f&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=fgk6UcumIdOu7Abj54HYAw&biw=1285&bih=737&sei=gQk6Uaa9Iezy0gWBj4HgDw#um=1&hl=en&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=queen+elizabeth+ii+portraits&oq=&gs_l=&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&fp=a02aca53974a4629&biw=1285&bih=737

And imagine being so narcissistic and vain that you even bought portraits of yourself done by artists you hadn't even commissioned (using your loyal subjects' money of course)!

No, but they'll quite happily occupy Tibet for (non)religious reasons.
And the only thing keeping them out of Taiwan is the threat of American retaliation, ditto the Diaoyu Islands.

OK, now you're really talking rubbish. For India see Kashmir, for Russia see Gerorgia. Heck if you go back more than your arbitrarty 20 years, Russia and China were kicking crap out of each other as late as 1969.

Well arguably all of those are Chinese - certainly they would argue that so still not comaprable with the american imperialism and exporting its values via the battlefield

Whislt i would not suggest that any of these countries are paragons you cannot comapre thier behaviour to that of the US in terms of wars in foreign lands.

I never said they (China) were perfect, but in the last 20 years or so, the USA/western coalition has killed hundreds of thousands if not millions of people.

You're using the Sino-Soviet border dispute as an example of those nations' belligerence, compared with the recent actions of the USA? Really??

I tell you what; it's Friday night, I have a lovely evening ahead of me, and I don't wish this to descend to the usual pointless bickering, but why don't we all use this weekend to educate ourselves more about the relative aggression of the various nations, and come back and discuss this productively next week? That way we all gain something.

Have a nice weekend all! 🙂
