Medical drama House to end, says Hugh Laurie

http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/16959698

Nooooooo, fantastic series, lots of proper twist and turns, & no idea where the next episode/series is going.
Ending well before it jumps the shark, but even so I will miss it.

"We have always imagined House as an enigmatic creature; he should never be the last one to leave the party.

"How much better to disappear before the music stops, while there is still some promise and mystique in the air."

Someone really should take this person to one side and point out to them that none of it is real

Mystery illness, House is rude to people, patient dying despite best efforts, House has last minute epiphany based on some unrelated conversation, patient recovers, House takes drugs.

Sounds about right? 😀

You do know [s]half[/s] a surprisingly large amount of the population think the soap star are real people don't you?

So there nowt wrong the with cast/screen writers conceptualizing a character.

No...and that's the point, it's not some simple formulaic crap.
If you watched it you'd realise this.
BUT I realise not everyone enjoys the same type of entertainment and am happy to accept you might not like it, no matter how much I do.

I mean who the hell really think dancing on ice, x-factor, big brother, Strictly Come Dancing, et al is actually any good?
Unfortunately a surprising amount of ppl don't agree with me.

cobblers, I have watched it and grahams synopsis sounds about right for every episode I've seen.

Entertaining (IMO) but pretty predictable, most hour long serials are TBH.

It has been going for almost a decade. All things must come to an end.

Anyway, he is just a (more) medical version of Sherlock Holmes. Watch that instead.

Yes. I use this fact to separate the "stupid idiots I should avoid" from "people with vaguely more intelligence than my sons goldfish".

Conceptualize your socks off, but don't patronise us by talking about them like they're real.

😈 😉

I already do Capt, but it's too long between episodes... (part of what makes it enjoyable?)

I have watched it and do like it (despite having to ignore my wife alternately rolling her eyes or shouting at the telly during all the medical bits).

The "long plot" is more interesting, but the "short plot" is pretty formulaic.

Graham's chart (boom-tish) nails it.

I used to enjoy it but it really has repeated itself endlessly for the last few series.

Hugh Laurie does play a great character though so it remains watchable but I won't miss it that much.

You're all forgetting that the plot is irrelevant if you get to watch Olivia Wilde on screen.

For a show ostensibly about a doctor, the actual medical stuff is bollocks...

Maybe if I talk in a low enough growl and play along with a silly backstory that means I don't have to have a regional origin no-one will realise I can't really do an American accent very well...

It's Lupus. It's always Lupus.
Except it isn't. Ever.

no-one will realise I can't really do an American accent very well

*Apparently* when he did the audition he was struggling in America for parts so went along and simply pretended to be American and the casting staff believed he was American - and to be fair there are so many different accents in America it would be easy for an English audience (or the casting staff for that matter) to not recognise the one he does.
