I'm aware that this may be a bit of a daft question but what kind of usage could i get out of a phone without going over a 500mb monthly web access limit?

quite a lot I imagine, but there loads of variables.. what you want to browse, what free wifi hot spots you get as part of your deal (or can use as part of your BroadBand deal, in BT's case) and this is regardless of where you can actually get any data signal.
My phone says I've used 2Gb cellular data over the last 6 months & if I'm bored (at work or where-ever) I'm on here or another bike site.... if that helps.
