I sold something on ebay over 2 weeks ago, the item still hasn't been paid for after sending payment reminders and a polite message. Not overly bothered as the item wasn't a high value sale and there maybe a valid reason, but I was basically wondering how long I had to wait to re-list, or whether I had to contact ebay first?

I wouldn't wait any longer. It's worth putting in the description how quickly you need to be paid. Within 3 days isn't unreasonable IMHO.

Just open a non-paying buyer case/cancel order thing and just jump through the hoops. You'll get a refund on the final value fee and the buyer will get a non-payment strike, then relist it and maybe block the buyer as well.

I seem to remember standard Ebay rules are 5 days?

If they don't withdraw their bid you have to wait something like 16 days before you can close the auction and get a refund on your fees. Otherwise you can relist but you pay two sets of fees and Buyer #1 could potentially pay up and demand it delivered....

As above. It's a pain in the ass.

I got a bid on a Toughbook I'm selling (at the top range of prices for that model) within a few hours of listing.
Just knew they wouldn't pay.

And they haven't.

Now I have to wait ages to raise the claim, wait for them to respond and let me relist.

Happened recently too with a studio microphone. Buyer bid, then never contacted again.

Sent an invoice after 48 hours of it finishing, opened the case as soon as I could. The guy never responded once so I had to wait the whole time.
Pain in the ass.
Not able to leave him feedback either. Irrelevant as you can't give a negative to a buyer

It might turn out for the better - both times it's happened to me I relisted and the item went for more second time around.

Cheers guys, opened a non-paying case, now have to wait until March 5th to re-list if not paid!

I sold a frame last week on a Buy it Now, two minutes the later the guy said he didn't want it and wouldn't pay. I just re-listed the frame straight away then cancelled the sale. Didn't get charged any fees and no point chasing him up as he blatantly had no intention of paying.
