I remember there used to be a bit in googles T&C where they told you what kind of person they through you were based on your web history - fairly basically Age, Gender, Country, vague spheres of interests like 'sport' or 'the outdoors' and stated that they used this assumption in serving ads and results.
I do a lot of research related to film design so the 'interests' I might be search for aren't mine, but a characters, or an era, or a persuasion. So I don't what the results tailored to 'me' or have future results tailored to the flawed characters who's like I'm trying to describe. So there was the option to uncheck the box for serving content based on those assumptions and I unchecked it.
Next time I visited STW all the ad spaces that had previously been sheds, approach shoes, and maybe the odd DeadlyDarcy related Bravismo advert were populated with images of incontince pants.

Its a shame that its a statement that has to be made (not to you I expect - but perhaps it says something about Pinkbike's community) but in evidence relating to porn and children's access to it, was an experience of a girl who's first kiss involved the boy trying to strangle her because thats what thought people do.
