Any suggestions of things to see, places to go and places to eat near Tregaron in Wales. Calling for all your knowledge of rural Wales!

Have accommodation booked but no fixed plans.

No bikes on this occasion.

Literally not much around Tregaron*. Head to the coast - fish and chips and dolphin watching at Newquay, seals at Cwmtydu beach, eat at The Harbourmaster in Aberaeron, and so on.

*edit: maybe Dolaucothi Gold Mines worth a visit
*edit again: OK, and Strata Florida Abbey

Go for a walk up the Preselis or in the Gwaun Valley (which is absolutely gorgeous at this time of the year).

Pretend to be the only gay in the village at Llanddewi Brefi

Coast

Devil's bridge walk above Aberystwyth

500 residents and only 2 surnames. You could play count the fingers with some locals. Probably the wrong time of year but the RSPB place at Cors Caron is worth a look. Teifi Pools are nice on a sunny day.

Teifi Pools are nice on a sunny day.
And pretty bleak the other 364 days of the year 🙂

Quite an impressive drive to Llyn Brianne and the Elan Valley.

Visit Claerddu bothy?
Visit the most central point in Wales? Geocaching. Desolation par excellence.
Cors Caron?
The Talbot Hotel on the square is pretty good for food and drink- and has an elephant buried in the beer garden.
Welsh Gold jewellery shop if you are feeling a bit flush...
Cwmystwyth mine is bleak, abandoned and wonderful.
Are you an afficionado of 'Hinterland'? It was filmed in the area.
It is easily possible to visit the source of the river Teifi and its journey all the way to the sea at Cardigan.
Howies factory shop.
Harbourmaster in Aberaeron for top notch scoff, and Aberystwyth is just so very, very wonderful.

And then there is Hafod. Allegedly the inspiration for Kubla Khan ('In Xanadu did Kubla Khan, a stately Pleasuredome decree....' Samuel Coleridge Taylor).

This time of year it is at its best, the colours are so lovely. The waterfall walk to the cavern cascade via the gorge are one of my favorite things to do. If there is a frost it will be spectacular.

Tregaron would be last on my list, so anywhere else nearby would be a good day out.
Hafod has a load of great hidden spots, spent a lot of time up there whilst at uni'.
Loads of 'middle of nowhere' locations as used in hinterland, go for a drive if you're fine with single-track roads, head for Abergwesyn and back through the Elan Valley.

I live not far away. I love it but it isn't really set up for tourism.
Kite feeding at Nant yr Arian (and the cafe)
A walk round Dinas, visiting Twm Sion Cati's cave.
The steam train from Aber to Devils bridge and back (maybe vice versa for you)
If you like bleak upland trudges get a map and explore. Maybe head for Drygarn Fawr or Llyn Fyrddon Fawr?
Call into Cwtch cafe in Pontrhydygroes, cross the miner's bridge and explore the gorge and waterfalls of Afon Ystwyth.
See whats on at Aber Arts Centre?
Devils Bridge is worth paying the £2 for the walk.
Parsons Bridge is worth the short walk but remember to take something to feed the pigs in the field past the church.
Everything that Ambrose says, especially the cavern cascade, but you need to bring your own opium to experience Kubla Khan.
Do you like old mines? There are lots of those.

Thanks all.

Not staying in Tregaron itself and was not expecting any major attractions more the kind of thing suggested. Looking forward to a night away.
