What food do you scoff when out on the bike that isn't sold as fancy pants sports nutrition?

Flat coke and jelly babies for me!

I tried Nature Valley bars the other day, mistake! Was expecting 'em to be squishy but they're very dry.

Fig rolls, cheese and jam sandwiches, Kendal mint cake are the norm for me.
Also had a good tip off an old seasoned roadie with regards to a quick pick me up.
"Tha doesn't want those new fangled gels lad. Cubes of rowntrees jelly are just as good"

At team 24 hour races I'm like the Duracell bunny if I'm on the Weetabix.

Admittedly it is very easy to drop the spoon when eating them on 'normal' rides out.

Pork Powerbar otherwise known as the large Sausage Roll, pasties are ace too. Something you can eat without guilt after riding for a couple hours and also ideal when you stomach rebels against something sugary.

I just eat "food" - weird eh?............ anything under 4hrs i don't bother eating but if i'm out for longer then whatever shop i find that is open will have something to eat if i feel the need, I stay in Galloway so there's not many shops where i ride anyway, considering i'm probably carrying a few extra kg that i could do to lose i'd prefer my body to burn fat as fuel - then again i don't care a fig how fast i ride these days so if my average speed drops due to the bonk i couldn't care less - i'll get back home eventually.

I've been experimenting with food from your average French supermarket.

The little packets of breakfast biscuits are good but a bit fragile.

Baugette and Nutella is ok but a bit dry.

Absolute winner is baugette and Bonne Maman "Confiture de Chataigne" (Chestnut jam)!

A couple of the lads who I ride with have started started stopping at the bacon butty van and having bacon, sausage and egg in a tray minus bread, one guy actually bucked up from a serious bonk and then led the ride for the remaining 20 mile, I normally suffice with a handful of raisins, nuts and some dried figs.

last time I was at Afan with a friend we had a picnic of saucisson and nice cheese with us. The baguette sticking out of my camelbak above my head got some funny looks and you had to watch out for low branches 😀

Just done an 80m road ride powered by two macaroni pies. I'd normally have cheese and onion pasties 😛

I just have whatever in the cupboard/fridge seems convenient. Tangfastics are good for a quick bit of energy though! Oh and brownies or millionaire shortbread 🙂

When in France, charcuterie du jour, mozzarella and Edam slices, celeriac remoulade in a baguette

When in whistler, breakfast burritos. Time of day irrelevant.

When anywhere, beer.
