Well I'm super chuffed that our Buffalo won a super gold. It's a shame that our media department don't share the enthusiasm. 12 months of maturing turning and looking after that bloody things to make sure they were just right, packing it carefully and sending it off on it's jollies to Italy and they're more interested in flogging charcoal cheese for Halloween, pah!

How can you say a blue cheese is better than a cheddar is better than a gruyére..?
They’re all different. Like comparing apples to oranges.

And no mention of Cashel Blue or Crozier?
I demand a recount.

As a cheese judge myself, I agree, it's very difficult. In which case it comes down to technical details and how representative of the variety it is as well as any innovation, appearance etc. The awards are broken down in to categories and those category winners are then taken to the final table. The judges then award a score for each cheese and the cheese with the highest score is the winner. Methods can vary between awards though.

Do love Torta del Casar, from my wife's home region. Not that I'd turn down any of the others of course!
