Mrs Coolhandluke has the 610. She likes it but I haven't a clue how to work the thing.

Guess the 820 has the same OS.

The Nokia smart phones are all Windows based. Be interested to hear peoples opinions on this as well. The phones and the OS do look good, although I've only ever played with them in the shop.

I've got the earlier Lumia 800. Running WP7.5, and it's pretty nifty. The OS is very slick and intuitive, and it works well when integrated with a windows live account. The size/shape/weight are just right and build quality is excellent, just like the better Nokias of days gone by.

OK, so people grumble that there arn't as many apps as Apple and Android. I seem to have found plenty that do everything I want from a phone.

I got it cos it was much cheapness, £150. At that price it was a no brainer.

I've had mine 3 days & while the software was quite alien at first, after previously having all the iPhones before, now its like a breath of fresh air ! WP8 makes the iphone is feel very dated..

It's very slick, fast & nice bit of hardware too

Highly recommended

Had my 820 for a week now and although I have not used the W8 before I find the Metro interface very easy to use.
Operation seems very fast but I have found the handset to reset a couple of times when being used and there are some minor issues like being unable to logoff Skype and no Whatsapp app (just now availbale).
Although the camera is not as good as the 920 model its still Ok for most use and one advantage over its more expensive brother is that it has a replaceable battery, something very usefull on power hungry smart phones.
Its good but I still keep my iPhone4 for work as that is still my favorit mobile phone.

Well MsD has been playing with the phone all night, and so far she's loving it.
Had a little play with it and the user interface seems a LOT more intuitive than my old Android phone. The idea of having only two pages/screens holding all your icons is really good, means you can access the app you need instantly rather than having to scroll through a load of screens.
The image clarity is very sharp and the Nokia apps like the music etc are pretty good. Think i'll have one myself 🙂

Are apps generally free on Windows/Nokia platform?

Have an 800 too and really like it. Couple of bugs with the software but nothing major - slick and intuitive fits the bill. Got mine free from work so might upgrade to 820 when due next year, but don't really feel the need.

Some apps are free, some aren't. I'm not a big app user so that isn't a great priority for me. Seems a lot of the Nokia apps are free but a lot of the games are paid for. Not a gamer so not bothered by that.
