Disused and boarded up (and vented) fireplaces in bedrooms of our 1950s semi. Quite exposed so lots of of weird wind noise. Currently have pepper pot caps on (elephants feet). Anyone have experience with the c-cap type chimney caps? Or something else that'll reduce wind noise?
Inflatable bladder?
wood burner?
Wasp nest?
Small child.
Is there anything attached to the chimney? Taking the disused aerials off our chimney solved the noise problem for us.
No aeriels or anything else on them.
Might try stuffing a bladder or sheep or a pillow in a bag up them, but don't think it'll make much difference.
We opened up our boarder up bedroom fireplace. I pulled a good two bin bags worth of jackdaws nests! The chimney was then incredibly noisy. A chimney sheep helped a little bit having the pot capped with a piece of slate was the only thing that silenced the noise.
That was 3 years ago and it's been fine.
