After riding morzine for a 4 days I was getting severe arm pump to the point I could barely hold onto the handlebars. After returning and continuing with my usual riding routine one of my wrist in completely normal however my right wrist feels as though I have no strength what so ever and find even on small 5 mile rides I am getting discomfort in my wrist. Just wondering if anyone has had similar complaint and any possible solutions to try without having to go to my gp. Cheers

Just take a bit of time off the bike and rest it. Also stop gripping the bars so tightly and maybe have a look at how your bars are setup.

Doesn't sound like anything serious enough to warrant a doc for me.

I'd have simular in the past, I couldn't tell you any medical names for any of it, but giving it a rest will probably fix it, it always did for me.

Don't know how much riding you did in your 4 days there, but you can do a month's worth of UK descending in a day there.

I'd bet on it being fatigue. Have a rest.

smaller will allow you grip harder, but might increase vibration.

look at increasing your grip/ wrist strength.

fair enough, it's similar to what my long undiagnosed fractures felt like for a while 😉

Thanks a lot guys. First port of call is rest I guess. As 4 days of France was riding from 9-5 every day pretty much with food a drink breaks.

I do a few wrist exercises (LOLZ) but the best one is a 5 or 10kg weight plate

grab the handle , have the weight by your waist and swing it to handlebar height, keeping your wrist straight and hold it for a few seconds. Uses all the little muscles in the hand and wrist.

perhaps for future prevention

I have a similar problem, after breaking my arm and having it operated on when younger I get really bad arm pump when riding for extended periods, Morzine did hurt it. Mine gets to the point where the muscles and area around my scar become completely solid.

Giving it a good rest will help, I sometimes wrap a cold or hot flannel around my forearm after riding and find that helps.

As prevention, I found that having thinner grips helped as I could wrap my fingers around them better and loosen my grip in places to let the bars move around in my hand, pulling my brake levers in helped too. That was a tip given to me before I went to Morzine, I currently have them wound pretty far back and I've been finding less issues, other than skinning my knuckles if I really have to anchor on!

I was prescribed the maximum allowed dosage of ibuprofen (IIRC 4 x tablets 4 times a day for 14 days) to reduce the swelling in the tendons and it worked. I developed it after doing a prolonged amount of digging in the garden during a garden make-over project – I couldn't even hold a pen tightly for more than about four or five words.

I broke my collarbone in the Alps 5 years ago. Back in the uk my consultant said he'd check my wrist too. Lo & behold it was fractured. He said 90% of scaphoid fractures go undiagnosed & cause lots of issues. If you can get it x-rayed

Definately not a break more discomfort than anything.

I broke both bones in my wrist a bit ago, apparently it's quite common not to notice, and I can well believe that if only one had broken it would only be a mild discomfort after a few miles. That's pretty much how mine was in the later stages when on the mend. If you had a spill I'd get it checked out as a precaution.
