£300+ for a pair.

Then.

Now.

It'll be garbage. Listen to the old albums and remember them as they were, not a bunch of middle aged men paying their divorce bills.

Yes the great thing about music is that the sound is irrelavant when you have an atmosphere 😯

I just thought - this will be like one of those later Oasis gigs won't it? Where you can't hear the band, just the crowd shouting the words along. *cringe*

For those moaning on here, I'm sure you'll have a much better time sat in front of the computer arguing on STW instead 😆

I'll be listening to the gigs in my back garden.

(unless they're as shite as they were the last time I saw them, in which case I'll go back in)

Well I'm sure that the 220,000 people who bought tickets in less than 70 minutes this morning are not expecting a note perfect rendition of the first two albums. The atmosphere will be incredible and I'm sure Ian Browns vocal will get put through sone kind of processor to make it sound ok. And everyone will be happy. And that's what counts.

What happened to Mani's face? Has he spent the last 15 minutes constantly driving an Ariel Atom?

I saw them in the old days, would like to see them now. All the miserablatists round these parts can tell me what's cool all they like. Good on those with tickets.

I agree warton. I started reading that big 'overrated bands' thread...got to the part where someone said something like 'if you don't like queen & U2 you don't know anything about music'..

Music is subjective. Whatever the (wanabee) cool kids tell us.

They were a 90s band. They'll sound awful now. Seen Happy Mondays?

Well, Monday I'll be going to see a (relatively) new young band, for the third time, in fact, who are nothing to do with any crap tv show, who can sing very well, in tune, and for free.
Then Tuesday I'm going to see another young artist, also a superb singer, also nothing to do with Simom (expletive) Cowell, but that one's costing around twenty quid. But it is in Bristol Cathedral.

FWIW I liked the band, it was their live show that was s**t. That's less open to personal taste I reckon- they were just playing badly and disinterestedly, and monkey looked and sang like he didn't really recognise any of the songs. (he made Ozzy look together)

I'm disappointed to not get any tickets but as I've been waiting over 22 years to see them live I think I'll cope and I'm going to hold out hope of catching them at a show somewhere else once the hype has died down a bit.

Look, lets be clear, this isn't going to be the musical extravaganza that it was back in the late 90's but lets be honest, how many people of our generation grew up wishing they'd seen the Roses live?

I know I did and given the rate at which the tickets sold it appears I'm not alone.

On the day, I'm sure that musically they won't be quite the same but tbh its not quite the point is it. It will be a fantasitc gig - even if the music is shit (well, average maybe) and I'm glad I've got tickets. One of the few gigs I've got tickets for where price wasn't really a factor.
