Having been exercising / training pretty much every day for the last 8 or 9 months, I decided it was time I took a proper rest. Not done anything remotely physical for the last week (except a couple of walks) and I've lost about 5 lb.

What's that all about?

Change in diet?

I have not cycled for the last 3 weeks due to the weather and a nasty cold and my weight has stayed the same as it was when I was cycling regularly.

Nah, not really. Eaten slightly less as playing xbox doesn't seem to make me as hungry as exercise does. If I've eaten less of anything it would be fruit.

5lb in a week is a lot though.

Most dieters would be very jealous of you!

Spending a year with Somali pirates seems to induce weight loss.

Quick, write a book called "the lazy way to diet"

Fatties will have it whizzing off the shelves like there's no tomorrow.

I'd buy a copy too!

Look up an Aussie called Jeff Jowett (sp?) - part of his weight theories are that vigorous exercise is counter-productive to weight loss. Gentle prolonged movement is the key in the short term .

Tapeworm ??

Exercise does increase appetite but you shouldn't lose that much when you stop, normally it takes a while for appetite to drop. I'd be in the docs if it continues mate.

Metabolism still ticking well OP.

Takes about 2 weeks without exercise until slowing down can be measured such as enzyme activity.

Frankenstein I prefer your theory to the tapeworm one above.

Was possibly a little de-hydrated this morning, but have stepped up eating and drinking today in preperation for getting back into training tomorrow.
