You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I bought myself a Switch Lite for Christmas, so far I've played:
- Mario Odyssey, which is ok
- Zelda BOTW, which I absolutely loved
- Mario Deluxe U, which did my head in
- Sayonara Kingdom Hearts, lacking substance
- Tetris, all I've got left and play it constantly.
What should I go for next?
If you haven't already have a look at the DLC content for BOTW. it adds a number of new shrines and quests to the game to expand it
Mario Kart is brilliant on the switch
We bought my son one for Christmas, I've really enjoyed Little Nightmares and when I finish it I'll probably buy Little Nightmares 2.
@chakaping, don't you find Mario Kart on the Switch a bit easy? You can't fall off the Rainbow Road any more, for example...!
You definitely can. Sounds like you’ve only played it with the driving assists on.
you might like immortals fenyx rising
like a greek mythology botw is the easiest way to describe it.
You'll either love it or hate it, but Rocket League is completely free and surprisingly fun, but unlike all the other games mentioned.
Hollow Knight, spooky platformer
Super Smash Bros, manic scrapping
Streets of Rage 4, retro scrapping (good soundtrack)
Mario Kart, as above
All are good fun. But I really really really hope they get on with releasing BOTW2.
Borderlands trilogy was on offer a while ago, that's a great collection of FPS shooters.
Loads of the old Final Fantasy games are on there for not much money.
I'm currently working my way through Valkyria Chronicles which is excellent. It's an RPG with an alternate universe World War 2 vibe going on, with a bit of magic thrown in for good measure. Set in what I guess is the equivalent of Holland/Belgium?
Cheers all. I've just bought Borderlands trilogy, which is still on offer at £15.99.
I forgot to say that at Christmas I also bought Resi 4 and played for about 10 mins before getting sea sick and massively annoyed with the controls. Fingers crossed Borderlands isn't in the same vein!
If you want something a bit different try Into the Breach
It's a turn based strategy game that sort of plays out like chess with robot mechs
It's very good in a cerebral way
Doom eternal is a phenomenally good game. I play it on PC so not sure how well the switch port holds up, but if the review's are positive I'd theoretically recommend.
@chakaping, don’t you find Mario Kart on the Switch a bit easy? You can’t fall off the Rainbow Road any more, for example…!
Falling off Rainbow Road was absolutely infuriating on the Wii. And I play it with my eight-year-old lad. So it's all good for me.
You can make it harder by going up the CCs.
Animal Crossing. Build your own utopia.
Is it Sayonara Wild Hearts you mean, v musical game? Not played it but heard some heavy endorsements for that one. I guess if something is quite different conceptually then it either clicks or it doesn't.
Witcher 3 if you liked BotW - the two of them are prob the kings of open world gaming, at least in that fantasy style. Easy, v accessible gameplay with exceptional story, characters, feel etc - W3 is way more adult and gritty than Zelda.
Virtua Racing.
/end thread
I think its been done on STW before but I bought a Switch for the second lockdown and the only game I have is Lonely Mountains which is a downhill MTBing game- I find it pretty absorbing though and it made a nice change from watching the death rate on the news every evening.
Keen to get a 2-player game though if anyone has any good ones?
Luigi's Mansion is an absolute must play on the Switch :).
Also look at the Disgeaea games for a bit of fantastically silly retro-esque RPG-ness
Before I packed my switch away (its being sold) I was really enjoying Lonely Mountains Downhill, the South Park games and Golf Story.
There’s a couple of channels on YouTube that do run downs of the best games that are on sale in the eshop.
Is the Fire Emblem game any good on Switch? I loved Awakenings and Fates on the 3ds.
Still playing the N64 here 🙂 Temped to get a switch just for Mario Kart.
Garry Lager - yes sorry Sayonara Wild Hearts. Recommeded by Edge magazine which I used to read 20 years ago when I last played video games. It's very art-house, indy, hip, beautifully poetic in its own way. I can imagine if you have strong rythm and lightning reflexes then getting in the zone would be a joy. If however you're all fingers and thumbs like me then the music, intead of flowing to a crescendo, degnerates into a jarring staccato when you slam your motorbike into yet another brick wall. And for me that's all there was to the game.
Hollow Knight, spooky platformer
Hollow Knight is a fantastic game. I can also recommend Dead Cells, Guacamole 2 and Monster Boy if you like platform or Metroidvania style games. The two Ori games are also brilliant but they might make you cry. I’ve honestly been more impressed with the Indy games on the store than I have with the major studio releases. Heave Ho is the finest, craziest multiplayer game I’ve ever played. Never laughed so much playing a game before.
Luigi’s Mansion and Yoshi’s Crafted Worls are both fun, especially if you have kids. Fenyx Rising is okay but not a patch on BotW. The world just feels fake and not lived in. No real impetus to just go exploring. It would probably seem better if played before Zelda. The Witcher isn’t a bad port and Doom, Alien Isolation and Skyrim are worth picking up.
There’s a sega mega cartridge ‘sega classics’ or something like that.
Sonic the hedgehog etc
I paid about £20 or so, well worth it.
I played columns so long I developed an rsi.
