anyone else in a similar situation?
On till 7am, been fairly q*iet so far and getting really bored which, tbh doesnt really happen very often!
Have essays to write, the xbox is there too and i've read thru most of the threads on here that interest me. Got a good sleep yesterday so not even feeling that tired. Cant seem to motivate myself to do anything apart from posting this..
sigh.
I've just nipped out to take a photo of the bike with a full Moon in the background for this weeks photo challenge. I didn't realise how cold it is, certainly wakes you up enough to stop you nodding. Will be home in 3 hours though !
I feel your pain!
8 hours and 45 minutes down with 3 hours and 15 minutes still to go.
My cereal bars are long gone, 2 cans of Red Bull down and so many cups of black coffee that I feel as if I'm floating through space. Nothing left in the fridge now, but for half a punnet of grapes.
Oh, I'm down to my last Marlboro too, desperate times.
On the upside, I get to hang out with my girlfriend tomorrow and am going to watch Explosions in the Sky at Camden Roundhouse tomorrow night with no more shifts until Tuesday night 😀
yep - here til 7. last of 4 - then off until next wednesday.
so boring.
lots of riding comin up 😛
Had a zoomer there to break the monotony..
I think I've hit a bit of a wall now cos my eyes are sore and I wanna sleep.
Will have my weetabix and fruit corner, fill out my overtime sheet and maybe go for a kip.
This is ot for me- starting a run of 7 nights tonight altough I have managed to get sat night off and have a leaving night for one of the nurses so not all bad..
What jobs are you guys doing?
I'm working night cover for the National Probation Service...no phone calls tonight apart from one from a colleague on the other side of the county in another outpost who is similarly bored!
Into the last hour of a 12 hr shift for me. Going through a tired spell atm. Trouble is, I just know when I finish at 6 that I will wake up and struggle to get to sleep.
Just finished Dyno testing a W12 Bentley engine, 630 PS and well over 800 Nm of torque. That'll do for tonight.
Monitoring 6000 internet circuits for various companies.
Luckily we have a big tv and full sky package at work 😛
Ambulance Service for me- havent had as q*uiet a nightshift as this since I worked nights in a wee rural station..
Time off with 12hour shifts is good but they can be brutal sometimes, at least we have to get our meal breaks by law these days!!
yes they can drag sometimes....i sometimes wish for something exciting to happen.
Nearly time for the ride home, tucked up in bed by 6.45
nice sunny morning for it 8)
night ride tonight then a few beers for me.

Pretty exciting if you do that the other way round too! 😛
yes, i have prior experience of that 😯
bravo.... old friend is looking to join probation service as a new job (something to do with being in a prison and working with offenders) he contacted me randomly a couple of days ago asking if i knew if probation workers get drug tested... i have no idea as i dont have anywhere near the contact with probation officers in my job that he guessed lol.
so yeah, you guys get drug tested? as far as i know he's a casual smoker of cannabis but from what he said he hasnt touched anything harder since he was a young teenager.
sorry to jump in the thread!
EDIT - said he'd give up to get the job "unless he didnt have to" haha.
I worked 12hr nights for 6 yrs.
I will never work another night shift as long as i live, it was wrecking my health and it took coming off them for me to realise 😐

Tell your friend not to worry. I've been working in probation for three years and have never heard of any colleagues being tested for drugs or alcohol.
I have friends in neighbouring counties and it diesn't seem to happen there either. Offhand, I can think of a half dozen or so probation employees who've been caning various recreational pharmaceuticals for years so it won't be an issue for him!
haha cheers dude, i'll let him know... might tell him they test regularly first and see how he reacts first haha.
You'd think that an employer would have some "background" tasks which could be performed if people are really just sitting about effectively doing nothing whilst being paid (a premium?).
