Planning on taking my girlfriend for a mini break within the UK to get away from everything and relax.
Hoping to find some where that is/has:
- Within 3 hours of Brighton, i.e. South-East, Hampshire. Not London.
- Has plenty of walking near-by.
- A nice restaurant.
- Quirky highstreet to explore.
- Somewhere like Rye, but not Rye.

Any suggestions welcome. If you can recommend a B&B or hotel even better.
Thanks.

Sounds like Stockbridge to me. Stay at the Three Cups. Meander along the river. Marvel at the window of Robinsons (The best butcher anywhere). Maybe take a bite of lunch at the new fish cafe that's opened up. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Go to Four Pillars hotel near Cirencester (just about 3 hours from Brighton), part of the Cotswold Water Park area. Nice Spa hotel with restaurant and also a good bistro pub attached.

Plenty of walking and some quaint Cotswold villages to explore. Sign up for their newsletter and if you are prepared to leave it until last minute they generally email out some special mini-break deals for the coming week-end.

Thanks for both of the suggestions. Trip Advisor wasn't a big fan of the Three Cups but Stockbridge looked ace so have booked a nice looking B&B there. Will check out the butchers.
Thanks again. I love this forum

The White Heart in Salisbury. Eat at Cactus Jacks (don't have the industrial strength chili).
Hutel du Vin in Henley on Thames.
Burgh Island.

Just got back from Stockbridge. Cracking STW recommendation. Ate at the Greyhound. Best meal I've had in a long time. Beautiful village.
Thanks!

Ross, glad you had a good time! Shame the Test Valley weather was a bit rubbish this weekend, eh?
