For context, this I suppose is a “stocking filler” for a 21st birthday, so not daft money, maybe up to £50. Not fountain/quill, probably ink reservoir cartridge.
Appreciate this is not venturing into what can be spent on pens/watches/jewellery etc, but something a bit unusual or quality, that can be kept, would be appreciated.
Thanks
No personal experience but these are cool, and at least designed in Scotland - not sure where they're made.

They have a pretty good rep I think.
Fisher Space Pen?
Fisher Space Pen?
For what it's worth,
I have a Space Pen which was a gift, and it's been a constant companion for at least 20 years if not more. I can't +1 this suggestion hard enough, I'd take another over some leaky-knibby cartridge pen bobbins any day of the week. You can get them engraved too.
... and on that notion, I've just bought one for my partner's 50th.
One of the engineers I work with on the ship makes and sells a few of the pens he creates:
Might be a bit more of a lead time than you want, and limited availability. Lovely bits of kit though, and all individually made.
PS - forgive the website being a bit rubbish! He fixes massive engines and pumps, not an IT professional.

Ooh, those are rather nice. The Vertex (Verteces?) in particular is lovely.
Yes, very nice and a wide variety. I think the Parker refills can be replaced by Space Pen ones - they come with a plastic adapter. That would give the best of both worlds.
I'm off to buy a Schmidt SKM 88 push mechanism for my next project!
They look great, decent value also.
Re: Namisu, the pens are nice but the company burnt all the good will with crap Kickstarter communication, delays, excuses etc.
I've got an Ixion fountain which is nice but the lovely anodised barrels/joints are almost back to silver after light use
In summary, nice pens, not great people
Ah that's a shame. Good to know though.
Thanks so far. The recipient is quite a girly girl, so less aerospace, more sparkly, would be preferred.
Our 7 year old has one of these:

+1 for the Space Pen. Recently got one of the Apollo 11 engraved ones for someone as a gift.
I always found the classic pen’s clip snapped off. I favor the bullet ones as they fit in a pocket. The ‘cap-o-matic’ is neat, but not as heavy or exciting as the classic.

From the link @seadog101 posted earlier, the "Chrome 30 Cal Bolt Action pen in blue swirl resin" (on the "Pens Currently Available" page) would seem to suit.

‘We Specialize In Wood’
Yes, they really do play on the name big style
Q: Can I provide my own wood?
A: In most cases we can handle your wood.
And the logo has been rather carefully crafted too
Can't go wrong with whatever Lamy fits your budget, but this is a nice thing too.
