Taking my wife to London this weekend for her birthday. We're going to see a show, Leicester Square-ish, and I was wondering if there are any recommendations for nice fancy bars for a few drinks after the show? Nice drinks, nice atmosphere, maybe music...
Ronnie Scotts jazz club on Frith St???
My wife and daughter went to a gig in Denmark Street a few weeks ago, and I amused myself around London until the gig finished. The British Museum was open until 8.30, and the I headed back down towards Charing Cross Rd, and found an old fashioned pub. £6.50 a pint, Aussie bar staff, laid back and quiet enough to read my book until I decided to go to the bar at the front of the gig venue. £7 a pint, heaving with trendy younger people all wondering what this old bloke in shorts and t-shirt was doing spoiling their Instagramable bar. At least that's how I felt - it wasn't a nice experience.
So, no advice other than don't! 🤣
Yeah thought about Ronnie Scotts, wasn't sure if it's a bit cliché but if it's decent we might head there for a pint and tick it off the list.
Cheers Lunge that bar looks nice.
Lol @Idlejohn - that will probably be us, trying to hang onto our youth. It's my wife's 50th. Mines next year.

Or for quirky try Mr foggs pawnbrokers on dean st.
Radio rooftop bar is fun.
Satan’s whiskers. Though that’s nowhere near being way over in Bethnal Green.

walked past yesterday. Has a fabulous history that I think you’ll enjoy. Modest walk for you post show.
Or Dukes bar for a martini in the other direction. Shaken not stirred.
This used to be my go-to West End bar for dates, margaritas etc:

Haven't been in years, but looks to still be going strong. I'll be popping in to try the cocktails next month.
