If your coming from an i device it may annoy you, it has with me.

My experiences:

App store - some stuff you can get some you cant. The ones you cant if you want to fanny on and sideload them in by downloading packages etc you can but its annoying.

App store random crashes and unknown errors when downloading things. Turn off and on and it works eventually.

Ive had a few issues today with UI crashing and having to send reports off - had isses with Loaders crashing.

Put it on silent - but it decides after a while it isnt happy on silent and turns itself off

Its ok, its cheaper than a ipad but if you want something to just work then it may randomly annoy you. The wife is sick of it already and calls it "that bloody thing" 9/10 times its good just the odd occasion it lets you down.

Carbon 337 I've experienced no such problems with mine, its far more reliable than my iPhone 5 that I've had endless problems with crashing

IOS6 probably the culprit.

Depends what you want to do with it and if you can live with 2 'ecosystems' for apps.

Well I've had 2 ipads and after using one, the nexus will be replacing the ipad. IOS is shockingly dated these days, after 5 years and very few changes it feels a little basic whereas android lets me play around a lot more 😀

Had mine since August. Love it! Apart from the keyboard, so installed another. That said the new keyboard with the latest update to the OS looks interesting.
Couldn't affordable and ipad but not disappointed with it at all.

I had the the original iPad and after each subsequent new version/update of IOS it got worse and worse,Safari force closing all the time.

Had a Nexus 7 for a couple of months now and has(touch wood)been problem free.

I rate it,good for movies and much better as a ebook reader than the ipad.

Had quick play yesterday and it looks nice feels good and is slick. Along with being a great price. Waiting till I can get my hands on a 10 for comparison.

Posting this from mine. I got it last week direct from Google for £158.00

Worth it just for GTA3, but it really is an excellent bit of kit. I'm just waiting for my OTG USB so I can connect it to my dSLR

Sadly, and something that wasn't obvious when you first click its £7.50 but I did have it the next day and they seem to have plenty of stock, which nobody else seems to have now.

Just reading the thread again and I should point out that this is for the 16gb model, not the 32. However I don't really class it as a portable device, ie. it's not going out on my bike in a rucksack, so if i need more space I'm happy with a memory stick plugged into the usb port.

Also the cloud storage (dropbox, google drive etc) work very well on this so I couldn't really see the reason for getting a larger version.

If you do get one I'd stick with jelly bean 4.1.2 for now, 4.2 somewhat undoes all of the good things that project butter brought. As a user of both iOS and jelly bean, there are pros and cons to both but I must agree that certain aspects of jelly bean are making iOS seem a tad dated.

Just wondering if you can connect Garmins to the Nexus7 and upload information to Strava? Also can you download routes from mapmyride etc to the actual garmin device?

So far I don't think anyone has ported the Garmin communication tool to android. The only way I can think of doing it is by changing the setting so your Garmin to save the activity to the micro sd card then plugging your Garmin in to your rooted nexus and uploading the file that way.

If your nexus is rooted it should read the Garmin as a storage device.

I plugged my Garmin Edge 200 in to my USB otg cable - it charges but does not mount so cannot upload files. This is one of the few remaining things I revert to the laptop for.

The only real problem I have found with 4.2 is that it breaks MMTracker, which admittedly is quite a big issue for me. Might ROM it back to 4.1.2, although Alpinequest works OK.
