Hi,

Been lurking for a few months now, getting especially addicted to the massive PSA thread when CRC were dying, ended up buying a fair bit from them.

I'm from a BMX background (since 1981) mainly building ramps in carparks and riding in the woods (the plannies) and a derelict skatepark (long gone) in Andover, Hampshire.

Living on the South Coast now.

Have a bit of a collection of BMX bikes, and other old bike shit!

Mountain bike wise, I now have a Ragley Piglet and Vitus E Mythique, loving being out on both of them when i can.

Anyway, off for another mooch around the site, so much to read!

Cheers

You have obviously been a member of some interesting societies. I think Ambrose means that you get to like other people's posts.

@blokeuptheroad it was reading about the 502 club and stuff that made me decide to join and subscribe. This seems a good forum so willing to contribute.

Howdie! Welcome and enjoy. So where do you stand on large dogs allowed in eateries versus owning a Landcruiser?

First rule of the STW club.

Always ask strangers on the trail if they have a random username on a site called STW...trust me, it's fun...

The annoying thing is that now you're required to carry frozen sausages and a hammer on all rides... Frustrating.

Very true.lol Not yet had an amazing yet though.🙃

Mind you, I don't ask cyclists, that would be mad, I ask dog walkers.

@radioactivekid, I was just being silly. Welcome the crew.

Checking your username, do you glow in the dark? That could be useful on a night ride.

I've seen the frozen sausages mentioned a few times but can't find that thread with the search, anyone got a link? Sounds interesting!

Welcome!

I have been working here 9 years and am still uncovering the origin stories of the forum in jokes! Good luck to you 🙂

Also, I think every rider I’ve ever met that has truly amazing style and skills started on BMX. Either you’ve a lot to live up to, or you’ve got a head start on the rest of us!

Aaah, that explains my complete lack of skills Hannah. I started on a Raleigh Tomahawk before moving up to a Chopper. I have the bike handling skills of a dairy cow.

Welcome Radioactive kid, what other superpowers do you have?

I have the awesome power to fall off my bike whenever everyone is watching.

Have a bit of a collection of BMX bikes,

Pictures formally requested.

This is my new one after 20 years away. I was curious about 22" wheels and I'm loving it.

On here, a standard response when someone has upset you is:

  • Hammer frozen sausages into their lawn
  • Take them on with a pair of old school Marzocchi bomber forks

I'm still to read the original Louise thread but this has become a trope whenever talking about an ex.

There is a classic thread talking about errr classic threads, see below...

https://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/the-classic-threads-on-here/

Welcome aboard the cycling forum of the absurd, unusual, non cycling cyclists and what tyres/waterproof jacket threads. Oh and some deep, deep knowledge on everything including amazing bike and route advice.

Again, thanks for the welcomes!

I don't glow in the dark as far as I'm aware, was struggling to think of a username, it's a song by The Meteors.

No superpowers either!

@stwhannah I didn't say I was any good 😉

@sharkattack There are many, in different states of build, from the '80's to modern, I'll find some photos and post a few.

@didnthurt I'll have a read of those now over a beer or two!
