Our trusty 10 year old Hotpoint has sprung a leak. I really don't have the time to be stripping it down (young family/time poor).

Anyone any recommendations for washers at the cheaper end of the spectrum? Ideally 9kg+ and reasonably quiet.

I'd like to keep it below or as close to £300 as possible.

Miele and the likes won't be getting a look in!

Ta

What can you buy locally before the next pile of laundry needs washed? That is usually my criteria.

Unfortunately not the door seal.

I really don't have the time to open it up, which is frustrating.

It's seen us 10 years of use so not bad, that's with 3 years of children, 3 years of beauty salon towels and 10 years of biking gear.

The price on some washing machines is bonkers- who spends £2k on a washing machine!

I spent £1k on a Miele with a 10 year warranty. It's great.

Have a look on Ebay, you can normally get a decent condition Bosch or similar for £50 - £70.

Sorry. One up from the cheapest Miele is my standard recommendation. 20 year design lifespan and completely serviceable.

Buy used if you can’t find one in budget.

Outlet store here. We used to live nearby. Will be unboxed display items.

Thanks for the suggestions, the zanussi looks to be in the right price range.

I'll have a look in eBay too, but I'm a little dubious of buying someone else's problem- I've already got one faulty washing machine!

Just plumbed in my new Bosch this morning and running its first drum clean cycle. Bought from Mark's Electrical for about £350.

Had a couple of Beko's and they've both been fine.

After contributing to this thread, I had a near miss last night with a stainless steel screw trapped, but free-ranging between the fixed and free drums. Machine out. Partially dismantled. Screw recovered using a magnet superglued to the end of a big ziptie. Reassembled. Working! Result.
