Just Chilling to Pearl Jams new album...
It's a mint feeling I've not had for a while waiting to get a new album out n actually listen to it!
How mint is Eddie Vedder?
I am still buying vinyl, most of what I get now though is also available on digital download but I just love owning the records.
I bought this yesterday (I am trying to support as many of the artists I like as possible at the moment and Bandcamp is a great way to do it)

Massive tune
Some vinyl sounds really good others nowhere near as good, as I've had a wee bit of spare time I compare my Spotify via Chromecast with plastic same track playing at the same time . The vinyl is definitely best 80% and you really see the speakers working
I've just got back to it from years of CDs n downloads
It's been great to see the vinyl revival, despite what it's done to prices, I originally started using vinyl because it was 2-4 quid cheaper per album, which was a lot for a skint student, the situations massively reversed now.
I just like the deliberate, considered choice behind putting on a record rather than just hitting random on 10,000 MP3's.
It can definately sound better, but that's balanced by the faff and expense required in achieving that.
With musicians unable to tour this is the perfect time to help them out by picking up a few, directly from the artist if possible.
I love vinyl, but recent articles on its environmental impact have given me pause for thought... what I'd like to see is more artists releasing .FLAC and .WAV versions of their albums, Warp are particularly good at this, but the mainstream seems to think .MP3 is enough, and even then they are rarely released at 320kbps.
I'll probably limit my vinyl consumption to a few favourite artists going forward, will miss the packaging but if artists make more off direct downloads then I'd be happy.
I’ve always bought records. Not any more though. £9 for a wav/flac dl, or £30-£40 for the record? I buy a lot of music so it just doesn’t make sense to pay the stupid prices. Especially as most of my listening is mp3s anyway.
Pearl Jam still going? Blimey.
what I’d like to see is more artists releasing .FLAC and .WAV versions of their albums,
I mostly buy from bandcamp (all formats same price), and junodownload (your choice). Never seen an album available only in mp3.
I have a lot of old vinyl - some some mine, some inherited and I sold a chunk as well. Mid to late 90’s original pressings of things like Pulp - Different Class command so much money it wasn’t worth keeping them.
I also dig through the secondhand crates in the local record shops but don’t generally buy new releases on vinyl - not with the money imo.
I also have a large CD collection and have a really decent streamer and Qobuz & Tidal all tied together with Roon.
I do have a slight preference for the vinyl sound but there isn’t a great deal in it and given the amount of new (to me, not necessarily new releases) music I discover via the streaming services I’d never be able to afford it all on physical media hence the significant outlay on a really good streamer/DAC as well as two decent turntables (one is set up with a mono cartridge - a proper mono setting playing mono records is a revelation!).
You have to upload a minimum of .flac to Bandcamp...
I've been umming about a turntable but I'm also keen on an old marantz receiver from the late 70s. Got heaps of overtime booked so might treat myself. I miss that feeling of new cds (lol or tapes) and vinyl. Sitting and listening to an album instead of skip skip skip. Looking at the cover art and reading the lyrics. Track by track as the artist wanted. There's lots of positives about streaming media but I do miss... The old days, y'know?
Just Chilling to Pearl Jams new album…
Ours got delivered yesterday. Need to have a proper listen. Maybe this afternoon with a glass of wine.
