Hi
Bought a new video camera at the weekend and in my ignorance didnt realise the memory card wasnt included.
It will take up to 32gb and will order one of t'internet as they are the cheapest place.....
BUT need a card pretty quickly so am going to buy a smaller card locally im the meantime so what length of filming will say a 2gb or 4 gb card give me.
Sorry if this is an obvious question but not had one of these before.
Cheers
Steve
i got a 16gb card from play for 17.99 a couple of months ago.
something i didn't know about but memory cards have speeds too the faster the speed of the card the quicker it is to save so the better the video.
What he said, try to get Class 6, but it might cost you.
Depends on the quality you're shooting at - eg HD will require more storage space than VGA for same time recorded - can't quickly find any links with the info on though. As above, the speed of the card is important - your camera spec should say what they recommend.

even that is slow, class 6 = 6MB/sec. My DSLR compact flash is 90 MB/sec...
Well, he didn't say what type of card, so I assumed SD.
7Dayshop is your first port of call, you should get a named 16Gb for a reasonable amount. Eighteen months ago 16Gb would have cost a huge amount.
Here you go, this should do you:

Is there any reason why I couldn't use that card in my DSLR (Nikon D5000)?
8gb card on offer

73x rating means transfer speed of: 73 * 150 KB/s = 10,950 KB/s ~ 11 MB/s, so it might have trouble keeping up with burst firing, but would work fine 🙂

Just the answer I was after. Thank you very much.
