I'm after a new holdall for holidays and weekends away that has separate compartments for organisation of gear.

This will be a check in-type bag.

I realise these sorts of things can cost a fortune but I really only want to spend around £50-100 (preferably towards the lower end of that scale).

Any suggestions?

Yeah, not really a fan of wheelie bags as I hate it when other people use them: They just get in the way of everyone else.

I suppose I could always not use the wheelie feature, although that would be a bit of a waste.

It's worth paying for decent brand/quality for luggage as it gets a lot of abuse in airports. I once bought a 'discount' 100l bag and it ripped at the seams on it's first and only trip. I now have a Berghaus 110l wheeled Mule which has lasted many trips and shows no signs of wear at all.

I just picked up a Tripp cabin bag, £50 down from £150 from Debenhams.

I think a cabin bag would be too small.

What size. North face duffels should be in your budget

I'm not entirely sure, but I suspect somewhere between 60-90 litres (I know, a big range). My current holdall is a bit small for all my biking gear.

If the north face duffel is in the frame then consider the mountain equipment version as well. Normally well cheap on cotswold.
Ive had two for 8 yrs and there as good as the day I got them.

I have a North Face duffel and have had it for about 10 years. There's a couple of gouges in it which would have gone through a normal bag but it's still going strong.

The large is 90 litres. They're not cheap (although there's usually a sale somewhere) but they'll last you ages.

I have an old, and now discontinued LifeVenture bag. One thing that really stood out for me was not just the size of the main pocket, but the usefulness of the others. A mesh pocket on top for immediate access stuff, a side pocket for paperwork, and then two massive end pockets (Usually one for helmet/gloves/buffs and one for shoes).
One of the end pockets has a clever double zip that exposes a mesh panel, most useful if packing wet/dirty kit!

I have a North Face duffle. I've lived out of it every weekend since 2009 (when I bought it). It's also been on many, many trip abroad and generally abused. I love it and it's still functioning perfectly although it does look quite tatty now (which I like).

I have the MKI version of this Rab Expedition Kit bag, used for the last 7 years now.

An excellent bit of kit, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Hmmm. I'm not really feeling the duffle-type bags. I do like the idea of a split case, like the Eastpak one above or the Dakine Split roller.

Are there any non-roller split bags?
