Apologies if it's been done. But this looks epic
Hope it comes to the UK.
That's not how I always imagined Vimes, but guess it could work (kinda like Begby in Trainspotting or Murphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - the film characters didn't quite match the books, but they worked out fine). Just hope they don't **** it up. Always disappointing when you realize that the only good scenes in the thing were in the trailer and the rest of it is just nonsense.
Its not Terry Pratchett
"The Watch shares no DNA with my father’s Watch. This is neither criticism nor support. It is what it is"
If that was "based on" the books, then it looks terrible.
As it's "inspired by" the books, then fair enough I guess. Something like the Shannara series, if you're a fan of the books then the series is somewhere between rubbish and infuriating but if you take it as some kind of spin-off/alternate universe thing then you can enjoy it for what it is without ruining the books and the "real" characters as they are in your head.
Just a film, based on characters from a book.
Might be OK but I wish they would actually make The Watch as a film.
without ruining the books and the “real” characters as they are in your head.
Aye, and there's the plaguey rub...Everyone's idea of what these characters is, is going to be different....See endless movie adaptions that have fans* frothing at the mouth about what's been done to their** books/movies/comic books etc etc.
*middle aged flabby white baby-men who are over proprietorial, and lacking a sense of proportion. (see Star Wars)
**not theirs.

It has. And the consensus disagreed. (-:
