I've a daft cheap deal on a yellow S10e - 5.6" and really compact in the hand.
It's costing £19 a month on Vodafone with 6gb and unlimited calls, using a combination of box open handset, good online deal, cashback and monthly discount as I've Vodafone broadband...
Looking at GSM Arena let's you compare phone specs. Don't get hung up on screen size.
Your G6 is only 4mm shorter than a Samsung A51 with an inch bigger screen, most don't have big chins and foreheads anymore.

Yeah, I think the lower spec Samsungs are your best bet. I wanted a smaller screen, looked at those, but ended up with Pixel 3a, which is excellent. Perfect size, but bit out of your budget.
Semi serious, how desperate are you? There is a new small iPhone coming in next few weeks according to rumours. The way these things go, you will see others follow in the next few months.
As per Matt above, S10e is ace.

Thats a good call on actual phone size rather than screen size etc ..... off to look at sizes again 🙂
You’d get a decent iphoneX second hand for that. I changed from a 7plus to an X and it was just perfect in my pretty small hands.
Now on an 11pro and would never go back to a max sized phone.
The new iPhone SE is (relatively) small and bang-per-buck is pretty strong as it's basically an iPhone 11.
Worth noting that 6" then isn't equivalent to 6" now, most screens now cover the entire front. My latest phone is only a couple of millimetres larger than my Moto G4 but the screen is significantly bigger
Suggesting a new iPhone, however 'small' it might is an optimistic suggestion for a £250 max budget! 😉
Also worth mentioning to the OP that samsung are doing some generous trade ins on certain models.
You can get 75 quid off for a broken phone as worst case scenario!
Samsung A51 with Harmon Kardon speaker £254 (go on, find another 4 quid!). Also cashback through quidco.
New Moto plus 5G is also under 200 quid.
Worth looking at Samsung if you can bear the software - they offered me £340 for a Huawei Mate 20 Pro against the new S20 FE. In the end I returned the phone precisely because it had been Samsunged but it made it less than half price.
Visiting the Samsung store on mobile vs desktop also results in different trade-in offers, as does visiting via the corporate discount page.
A used but mint Google Pixel 3 is less than £200 on eBay.
Xiaomi Mi A3. One of their lesser known phones. Bang on the 6" size, Android One operating system. Hybrid SIM slots so takes two SIMs or one sim and a memory card. Decent camera, two days+ battery life. Had mine for a while and doing everything I need form a phone.
Currently have a Samsung A10. Very nice. Camera not quite up to higher priced Samsungs.
S10e.
Not cheap, and being discontinued, but superb.
Waterproof, tough (no edge screen nonsense), brilliant camera, SD card slot, future support from Samsung and android very good.
And most of all, a sensible size. I used to have a big phone but have now seen sense. Just no need, especially with modern screens filling the whole of the front.
I had an S7 for 4 plus years and I'll aim to do the same with this one. Don't be cheap but then also don't get the costly bleeding edge preciousness.
Got mine new for 320quid. 80 quid a year for a phone ain't bad.
Just got myself a Samsung A51, I'm happy. I was ideally looking for something about the same size as my old Phone - about 140 x 75mm and looked at getting a rugged Chinese phone but they all seemed to have mixed reviews that put me off so went for the A51 and a rugged case/protector, it's about 20mm longer than my old one. As mentioned, on the Samsung website you can get a £75 trade in on any phone, can be a 20 year old broken phone and claim the Harmon Kardon speaker, apparently worth £180! Check the terms and conditions with the trade in though as if you say it's working there's all sorts of requirements, broken and it doesn't matter.
Kat boughtt lad a Sony Xperia l4 for His birthday cost £170 appears to have decent performance and battery life too with sd card slot.
