looks like it's time to replace my old printer (Epson R300 ink jet) - what is a good one for "home use" (i.e. print mainly photos, but also the occasional document on normal paper)?

Confused by all the choice out there, they all say they're the best 🙂

I've got a Canon iP 3600 which I use mainly for photos. Back to back with a printed photo there is very little in it quality wise, for everyday use. It has got a more expensive brother (iP4600 I think) which has features that I didn't want The main advantage for me was that I could buy the cartridges seperately. I can use ink at an alarming rate though, I reckon that ink and paper, not the highest quality either (180g/m2), cost €1,00 per A4 photo. As yet I haven't found a company who can do refill ink either. Contrary to some reports, it will select the correct paper from the correct tray for the correct use, photo or document.

For me an excellent printer for the money. 😀 HTH.

I've got Canon Pixma MP560. Cost just under a hundred and does very good photo prints and also good for normal stuff. Has a scanner which works really well and has wifi if you want to use with more than one computer via local wireless network (otherwise you just connect using USB). There are cheaper PIXMA versions without wireless and scanner if you don't need them, but keep an eye out as some have fewer ink colours and are not as good for photo printing.
Good luck.

Thank you both, I'll have a look at these ones - I quite like the idea of the wireless connection...
