Burnt my old B&D drill out mixing plaster at the weekend. So in the market for a new one.

After something 220v SDS but with a chuck that can take normal bits too as I have loads. Needs to be able to do hammer action.

Dont want to spend more than £100 really.

Any recomendations please??

Any of the main brand sds will be fine- My dewalt one has had dogs abuse. Often they are bundled with other stuff a take whichever deal looks good. Some sds have a rotory stop that allows you to chisel. You'll pay more more for that and it's another thing to go wrong so avoid that feature if you won't use it. Places like Axminster, screwfix, tool station and d&m will all have good deal and they'll also sell chuck adaptors to use your existing bits.

Ps. Did it burn out- with smoke and stink- or just stop. If its the latter you might just to fit new brushes.

Have a look at screwfix, they always seem to have offers on whenever I go in.

Makita. Can't go wrong with them.

I got the kit with a drill/driver and an impact driver + 3 batteries, you can get just the drill for about £100. B&Q have them cheaper than most places but Anglian Tool Centre mail order is always excellent for Makita.

I have a 230v DeWalt SDS plus hammer drill. Some grit caught in the motor and damaged a brush, but Dewalt had run out of spares, so they just gave me a new one. Can't fault service like that...

You can pick them up in ToolStation etc for about £95.

I have been using a Bosch GBH2 20D for years as a tile adhesive and plaster mixing drill which works it damn hard, the bugger refuses to die so I'd buy another if it ever did. They seem to be available from £80 or so.

Erbauer are good, I like mine. A fair bit less than the big names too. I believe they are made by Makita, same clutches.

B&D SDS for me, has bolstered most of the original plaster off the walls in my house 🙂 Still as good as new.

This Makita has been superb of me (and loans to colleagues!) - that said, I reckon that around £100, all the big brands are pretty similar.

Makita from screwfix I personally think they are head and shoulders above bosch and B&D.
