My new Nexus 4 has arrived - Yeah!
It needs a Micro SIM and my old Samsung o=has a big SIM - Boo!
I have ordered a new SIM from GiffGaff but was wondering if there is anything I can do in the mean time?
There is a YouTube visdeo showing a bloke using normal scissors to simply cut off the plastic to make the big SIM into a little SIM - is it really that simple?
Hit it with your chopper
It is that simple, I paid a bloke 5 quid thinking it was more complex, he took out his scissors and cut away. I felt cheated.
I shall sharpen my axe - thanks
Have a google and you can download a pdf cutting template, print out, put sim on top and cut off the un-needed bits.
Worked fine when I had the same problem with the same phone.
Use the sim holder as a template - worked fine for me.
Your local phone shop (those 'back street' ones rather than large chains) should have a cutter to do it properly. This meant that when I founded that my new (2nd hand) phone was locked, I could still use the 'shell' of the sim to put it back in my old phone, while I waited for the new phone to unlocked (2 ruddy weeks).
Sounds daft but check your Giffgaff sim carefully - mine was pre-scored and simply popped the edge off to convert it down to a micro sim. The scoring was fine, easy to miss.
gravity - The GiffGaff should come as a micro-sim, I just dont want to wait three days for it to arrive so butchering the SIM from my old phone
😆
Ah - I assumed you had a Giffgaff sim already and had ordered a micro sim.
Take it you are moving to Giffgaff from somewhere else then? Works great - had a Nexus 4 on Giffgaff since November and very happy. Enjoy!
I went to three and they cut the sim down instantly for me, others do it also O2, Voda etc just call in to one of them explain and they will probably cut it down for you
Stopped at a phone shop and the bloke cut it down with a proper cutter thing. Put it in the phone, checked it all worked, smiled and said it was free.

Google or local cheapo phone shop. I did the latter and he charged me £1. I gave him £2 because it seemed a fairer price.
I bought a tool to do it. It's done 2 sims so far and lingers around the office in case anyone else asks similar at work 🙂

£2 to cut a sim would be awesome, I'd be in profit pretty swift!
