As the title really, any pointers on the good, bad or ugly?

I've had a bit of a look around, management fees vary but over 15 years they all seem to end up costing a similar amount.
I hada pension guy in and he'd charge £1500 to set up the pension. Is this likely to be good value or should I save that money and do it myself through HL or similar. I'm struggling to see what the £1500 gets me tbh but am open to being convinced it's good value.
Salesman had a big flashy watch which put me right off. Daft I know as it may well have cost £50!

And the rest! What are his ongoing charges?

Do it yourself. It's not rocket science.

You can go direct, no? Just pick a company like, say, Standard Life?
