I had a text message ping up earlier this morning, purportedly from HM Department of Work and Pensions, warning that if I didn’t apply by June 11, I would miss the deadline. I opened the link, and while the page looked authentic, a section asking for bank and card details set my spidey senses tingling. My first search brought up a Daily Express article warning about it, and giving a text number to forward the message to, which I’ve done.

I have a feeling that more of these things will show up, what with all of the media coverage about heating costs for pensioners, so everyone keep your eyes open for these messages and emails, and warn elderly family members and relatives.
