I had a reply written suggesting much as you had but decided to see how the second half went. Definitely picked up as the show went on.
First half was poor I thought but it did improve. Only really laughed out loud at Johnson's funeral speech though.

I didn't think it was as good as last series but I'm hoping that it's just a load of setup so they can get stuff out of the way; gerard gone, new job etc.
