OK, started another thread on my misbehaving lappy. Got all the data off it now and am going to stick the HDD in a caddy so I can get to anything I've missed.

Need new laptop recommendations please. It'll mainly be used for MS Office stuff (work=dull), pics, mp3 storage and web. Want something 'decent' (i.e. not bargain basement), mainstream and reliable. Not bothered about fancy finishes or bleeding edge tech just a solid workhorse suitable for running my Company Accounts on and surfing pron 🙂

Any recommendations people have for backup/data retention would be helpful. Currently copying some stuff to Sugarsynch and when I remember, a caddy drive. I do have another couple of PC's I could do with synching with each other (Outlook/files etc) if possible.

So, what PC and how to secure the data on it?

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

M8 got one of these the other day, though for the introductory price of £380... seems solid, and a nice machine, maybe use it as a benchmark to judge other against (assuming it fits within your budget).
You can have Win 8 if you want for another £15.
